Bad Customer Service, Is The Customer Always Right?

My answer is NO! No way, no how, not ever is the customer always right. They may not be right but they do not deserve disrespect. How many of you have had horrible customer service only to leave you outraged and feeling there is nothing you can even do?

Well I can say over all my travels and trying new places. I sure have my share of stories. I have been argued with, yelled at, door slammed  (Window door), and much more. I know I am always nice and pleasant untill you are not to me. My opinion is if your going to yell and be rude to me, expect it back. Now of course in a more mature manner.

What is bad customer service to you? It doesn’t matter if you are the cashier or the owner of a store, You have to expect things to go wrong and know how to handle it the best you can. In a calm way right? Well  let me share my top experiences! One was at a Olive Garden and the hostess was arguing with me about my baby. Telling me how he needs to be reclined back because his chin touches his chest. Please, he was buckled properly in his car seat and I refused to use the sling at the moment because I was going to feed him. She continued to not let it go. As you can imagine as a mom of three, I do not like to be told what to do or how to do something with my child unless you are the law or a doctor. This whole situation was a shocker.I couldn’t believe a stranger would offer advice after I kindly said no thanks.

My next one was recently at a Brusters. We had one kid out of three, the baby who was fast asleep. So it was like mom and dad free time. Well I really wanted a milk shake, I did not have to share sips out of to my drink to my younger daughters. A milk shake all for mom, “What, you say?” All for mom, I know that never happens? Yes I did not want to share and I was at a point of locking myself in the bathroom to not have to share. We stopped there on the way home, I waited patiently for 10 minutes as the women in front of me ordered a lot. Then I happened to notice there were two workers in the back not doing anything. It was an hour and half before closing and they were cleaning up. I went to the window and asked the girl who I had been watching texting on her phone and singing around the store to help me. She came over with an Attitude saying she did not see me. Well I told her what I wanted and she with an attitude slammed the sliding window door and started to make the shake. She slammed it so loud the lady in front of me jumped. She came over and I said I had a baby in the car and didn’t have long till he woke up. Well she kept doing what she was doing while slamming the ice cream lids and everything. I then called one of the boys over and asked the managers name. He told me and I went to my car to get my phone. I got back and this girl bombarded me with what do you need. I am the manager.

I said well I am waiting for the other one and I will call tomorrow morning. She said there is no other manager. I said so theres no one on tomorrow. she is saying all this with attitude to me by the way. Just picture it! I said thats ok, I’ll contact the owner and company. She flat out lied and had her Name tag turned around, so I could not see her role. “Honey” please I have two girls and I was a teen before. I know the game. This is all in my head because I am furious a this point. Well She raised her voice and started yelling at me. I then raised my voice in a “mom voice” saying I am the customer and you do not yell at me like that. She then tried to talk over me and instead slammed the window door again!! YES, again! There are two windows to this window hole, to add in the dramatic effect of two being slammed. If she truly was a manager, I feel sorry for that company because no manager I have ever talked too, no matter how mad I came across acted as childish as her. I asked for the business card and called the owner.

Needless to say he told me she was leaving in a week upon mutual agreement before hand anyway. Talk about bad customer service!

I am usually the calm one but lately after having kids and having a job where I need a smile on my face no matter how other people treat me. I do not have patience for people in the general public treating me with any attitude I do not deserve. I get enough from my 3 and 5 year old daughters.

So that story was still fresh in my head and it’s one of those you had to be there to see how she was talking and slamming things around moment. I know that it can be that one person that can cause a domino effect of bad things to happen with the visit. It is not the company it self or all the employees. It is that one person that just shouldn’t be working with customers if they do not know how to act.

Share all your stories because I’d love to hear them. Was there a resolution to it? Did you feel satisfied leaving the establishment?
