Thanksgiving will be here so soon it’s crazy. It’s truly crazy how this year has just flown by. The holidays are almost forced on us weeks before. While Holidays are great, we forget to be thankful for some things and really enjoy our family. We use to be at the dinner table forever it seemed as a kid. Now a days thing have changed. While we could be mad we just need to embrace the present. While some family members come over and then have to return to work or go do something else. Possibly visit other families. Not everyone has room for a dessert. So the past few years we have created a fun little tradition.

We have made some desserts easy to eat on the go. Everyone’s favorite is always the Mrs. Smith Pumpkin Pie. Now you can easily find this pie int he frozen section at Walmart, right next to the Cool Whip. We love it. It’s become of the must haves at our dinner table every holiday. There is just something so good and inviting about pumpkin pie.

We all eat so much food and really enjoy our family time. It’s doesn’t happen often. So we really try to enjoy the whole dinner and some people have seconds and thirds. When it comes to dessert we all don’t have room. By the time we would have room would be like hours from then. We took our love of jars and made an easy pie to go idea. We cut up one pie and put each slice into a small jar and top it with my special pumpkin Cool Whip. We can not get enough pumpkin around here.

First all you have to do is cut the pie up into small slices. Then spoon out each slice into one small jar. Then we grab up my famous pumpkin cool whip and top it off. Now everyone has a amazing piece of desert to take home and savor for later. No one has to leave without their piece of pie. I also sometimes even make little tags that say thanks for coming.

  2. What a great idea! I could see little kids thinking this was really cool. Or an easier way to snack on it in the car on the ride home. 😉

    Great idea!!!

  8. So cute!! How could you resist pie in a jar? My girls don’t like pumpkin pie, but this could easily be done with another flavor.

  9. We enjoyed Mrs. Smith’s pumpkin pies on Thursday. They are so yummy! Thanks for the hint to make pie-on-the-go for relatives to take home next gathering.

  10. This is a great idea for portion control. I could see doing this and having them in the fridge, for the kids, so they can eat a treat, but not the entire pie.

  11. Piper Leigh says

So simple, why didn’t I think of this! Tie a bow and it’d be perfect to send it home with the guests!

  12. This is a great idea and not just for Thanksgiving. There’s been plenty of occasions that some of my guests had to go before dessert leaving me feeling guilty.

  13. I LOVE this idea, desserts at our holiday family dinners always end up sitting there because everyone is too full to eat them and then the host is stuck with multiple desserts or whoever made it takes it home. I’m going to suggest we do this and when it’s my turn to bring a dessert, I’m doing it for sure. thanks for the idea.

This is such a cute idea. I will have to use a different pie and topping though because I am allergic to cinnamon 🙁 The holiday season is terrible for me.

  15. Love Mrs. Smith’s pumpkin pies! This is a great idea to reconstruct it and portionalize a serving of these!

  16. I think this is a great idea! Will have to try it next year for Thanksgiving. May even try it for Christmas this year. Thank you!

  17. Good idea for taking a dessert to go. This would be good for taking out camping or fishing, maybe with a plastic container so it wouldn’t break. I love pumpkin pie or almost anything baked with pumpkin in it too.
