DJI Phantom 4 Drone Review

2016-08-24 10.08.53 AM

Technology has changed the way we live today. New devices and equipment continue to spring up, not only to make everything convenient, but also to make everything possible, particularly when you’re at home. For instance, they make lawnmowers that are remote control, lawn irrigation systems nj that are automated, and drones that you can use to take aerial views of the neighborhood along with various other purposes.

Today, we will be going over a review of a DJI Phantom 4 drone because most people are curious about their features, and if they’re affordable.

DJI Phantom 4 Overview

DJI Phantom 4 can be considered the Prius in the Sky and with a price of $1,399, you can see why. If you happen to be chatting with a DJI Phantom 4 pilot in the park, he will probably spend more time talking to you, as though he is not controlling any drone that’s flying at the same time. This drone is the latest enhancement of DJI Phantom drones. Although DJI Phantom 4 cannot fly on its own yet, it seems that there is a clear direction toward becoming like that soon.

Object Detection and Avoidance Features

When flying DJI Phantom 4, you can relax a bit as it can detect objects. However, this feature works only in forward motion as it cannot see around itself. This is because it depends on its front camera that recognizes an object that may collide onto it.

The good thing about this feature is that the drone automatically stops in the air when obstacles suddenly appear, although the problem is that it cannot detect smaller thin objects such as power lines.

Tap Fly

The collision detection feature works best with another feature, which is the Tap Fly. This feature provides convenience for ground pilot who controls it, and it works with your smart phone. It’s used by simply tapping a touchscreen to command the drone to go to the direction of the portion of the screen which the pilot taps. The front camera of the DJI Phantom 4 provides the touch screen with horizontal views. Whatever you see through the screen is exactly what the front camera can also see.

The advantage is that you don’t need to rush to tap an area on your touchscreen when there is an obstacle because the collision detection feature works along with it, so you can freely tap any area. However, you can’t be sure where the drone is heading when you suddenly turn the drone toward a blind spot beyond the front camera. Keep in mind that the drone won’t collide to anything that the camera can only see.

Advanced Uses

As we’ve seen the DJI Phantom 4 is good at avoiding objects in mid-air, but what else is it good at? The DJI Phantom 4 has other benefits that include:

  • It can fly up to 500 feet max.
  • It can be used to take video evidence or surveillance while exploring to protect your rights.
  • It could help you pick out a new neighborhood to live in.

Conclusion

Even though drones are still in their infancy stage for consumers they can be used for a variety of different purposes today. There are drones that you can buy that are much cheaper than the DJI Phantom 4, but they don’t have the range and the available features to give the controller the ability to explore their neighborhood and capture video. We hope this review serves you well, so you can make a collective decision about this drone.
