10 Amazing Essential Oils and How They Can Benefit You 

 

Ever wondered why essential oils are so “essential”?  

 

Okay, so they actually get their name because they contain the “essence” of a plant, meaning the taste or odor. But we don’t recon the double meaning is just a coincidence! Here are our top 10 essential oils and why you should probably have at least one of these in your bathroom cupboard…

Eucalyptus Oil: 

Extracted from the leaves eucalyptus tree, native to Australia, eucalyptus oil has powerful antibacterial properties. Inhale for colds, flus and respiratory problems or apply to wounds as a natural antiseptic! 

 

Tea Tree Oil: 

Tea tree oil is one of the only essential oils that doesn’t have to be diluted before topical application. Common applications include cold sores, chickenpox and acne.

Bergamot Oil: 

This citrus oil is most commonly known for its calming effects, including pre and post-natal applications. However, it has also been shown to encourage normal cholesterol levels and blood sugar, promoting a healthy body weight. 

 

Rose Oil: 

This floral scented oil is derived from the petals of several species of rose. It is often used in skincare products as it can make skin more permeable, allowing the absorption of nutrients.

Sandalwood Oil: 

Sandalwood oil is commonly known for its woody, sweet smell and used as a base for incense and perfumes. However, this essential oil doesn’t just have an amazing scent, it can also have an effect on overall wellbeing and mental health.

An herb from the labiate family (along with lavender, mint and sage), patchouli oil has a sweet, musky and spicy aroma. It is commonly used in men’s fragrances and masks odor naturally, making it a great natural home deodorizer.

Lavender Oil: 

Lavender is one of the most commonly used essential oils. Amongst its many benefits it has been found to reduce the effects of insomnia. Diffuse next to the bed or rub directly on to your neck, chest or temples for the best results. 

 

Chamomile Oil:

Jasmine Oil:

Peppermint Oil: 

Peppermint is possibly the most versatile essential oil in the world (along with lavender) and known for its natural energizing properties. Swap your morning coffee for a few whiffs of perky peppermint!
