Invest in a Quality Conditioner or Hydrating Mask

Conditioner is meant to lock in moisture and protect your hair, which is why you want to find the right option to keep your hair smooth without weighing it down too much. Depending on your showering routine, you might want to find a leave-in conditioner that you keep in your hair overnight, or simply look for a hydrating mask that you leave in your hair for a few minutes while you shave your legs and then rinse off. Comparing conditioner brands as well as treatment options can help you lock in the best possible choices for luscious, frizz-free locks.

Fortunately, finding the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair doesn’t mean paying more than you’re comfortable with. Through Amway’s hair care products, you can discover the right conditioner for your hair and explore different options until you find what works best.

Stop Rubbing Your Hair with a Towel After You Shower

Many men and women grab a towel after they shower and work to rub their hair dry. They start at the roots and work their way down to the ends, kicking out the moisture and getting it ready to style. This is a huge mistake. Rubbing your hair like this makes it brittle and creates added stress to your hair. When you go to brush or dry it, your hair is already stressed and more likely to break.

Furthermore, rubbing your hair with a towel can create more knots, causing you to experience more stress brushing them out a few minutes later. Instead, look for a hair wrap that absorbs moisture without adding stress to your hair, or gently squeeze the water out before hair drying. Your hair will be stronger and less frizzy as a result.

Avoid Hair Dryers, Flat Irons, and Curling Irons

You might be tempted to blow dry your hair completely after stepping out of the shower, but that could reverse most of the good that comes from adding conditioner and using the right shampoo. Heat and dry air dehydrate hair, making it wiry and frizzy. This is especially true in the dry winter months when there isn’t as much moisture in the air.

Instead, try to let your hair dry naturally without the help of a blow dryer, at least until it’s mostly dry. With this method, when you do use a blow dryer, you will only need to apply the heat for a few minutes instead of the entire time. Flat irons and curling irons are also hard on your hair, but if you use these, you should invest in heat protection treatments that give your hair the desired style without the damaging side effects.

Don’t Over-Brush Your Hair

Once you achieve the desired style for your hair, avoid the temptation to over-brush it. Brushing creates added stress on your roots and increases the chances of breakage. Anyone who removes clumps of hair from a brush each day knows how much hair could be lost to over-brushing.

Some experts recommend limiting brushing to moments when your hair is wet or only using delicate brushing techniques when your hair is dry. The reality is that everyone’s hair is different. You may need to brush your hair a few times per day, especially if you live in a windy environment.

However, when you do brush, try to only run through your hair a few times. The idea that you should brush your hair 100 times before bed is a myth and could cause more damage. If you can work out the knots with minimal brushing, your hair will be stronger and less frizzy as a result.

Some people are more prone to frizzy hair than others. However, taking healthy steps to protect your locks, you can reduce the frizz and enjoy stronger, smoother hair than you thought possible.
