Coinstar has now added a kiosk called Coinstar Exchange where you can do just that. Sell your gift cards and turn them into instant cash.
These kiosks are bright yellow and are located at your Giant Eagle Market. This kiosk will make you an offer for your card right on the spot so that you can get the cash in your hand to buy what you really want. I was surprised when I found out that when Coinstar Exchange surveyed people about their gift cards that they received last year, that 37% of those people had never even used their cards.Coinstar Exchange is here to save that from happening from here on out.
Coinstar Exchange is able to accept your gift card trade from over 150 stores. All you have to do to use the Coinstar Exchange is swipe or scan your gift card and then accept the offer. You will need to verify your identity when making this transaction, so there are a few things you should bring with you to the kiosk when you go. Bring your mobile number, driver’s license or state ID, email address and a credit/debit card. Your gift card must be of $20 value or more to make a trade at the kiosk. Once you accept the offer you will insert your gift card and a voucher will be printed for you to redeem.
You no longer have to keep a stash of unwanted gift cards in your wallet or purse in hopes of using them some day on something you don’t even want in the first place. Coinstar Exchange is a lot less hassle then other ways of trading gift cards for cash in the past. You don’t have to go through websites anymore and wait on a return. You will instantly be able to get cash on the spot for those unwanted cards. Everyone loves gift cards, but no one wants them to sit there with value and never get used. So if you have been given a gift card from someone that you truly will never use, turn it into cash that you will use easily at the new Coinstar Exchange Kiosk.
