Extraordinary Wedding Destinations Around the World

If you’ve got a tightknit circle of family and friends, choosing a destination wedding can be a fantastic way to spend some time with all your loved ones and spoil them with a bit of a holiday too. Not only is it a lovely way to thank them for all their support over the years, the right destination can make your big day even more special and unforgettable!

Here are some of the best spots around the globe to tie the knot in style!

 For the adventurous couple: Fiji

With over 300 islands to explore and a variety of adventurous activities on offer from white-water rafting the Wainikoroiluva River, scaling the Sigatoka sand dunes and hiking the impressive Mount Korobaba Range, Fiji is the perfect playground for the couple that likes to keep active! If your guests prefer to take it a little easier, there’s nothing wrong with just enjoying the beautiful waters and lazing on the stunning beaches, of course. Better yet, Fiji has a great and well-established selection of wedding venues and organizers, so you can rest assured your special day will be in excellent hands.

For the couple who’s wild about the outdoors: Thanda Private Game Reserve and Lodge, South Africa

The word Thanda actually means love in isiZulu, so it’s no big surprise that hosting amazing weddings is a specialty here! Nestled within a 14,000 hectare private game reserve home to a host of amazing wildlife including the big five, you get all the action and romance of the African bush in supreme luxury. The lodge caters for up to 80 guests at a time, and can assist you with every aspect of your special day. Add sunset cocktails, guided bush walks, early morning and evening game drives, and even a world class on-site spa, and a Thanda Safari makes for a truly unforgettable wedding experience!

For the couple with a bothersome budget: Vermont, New England, USA

Whether you want to splurge out on a big honeymoon, be able to host a bigger guest list or just keep your destination wedding more affordable, Vermont is the perfect combination of beauty and budget-friendly romance! With quaint little villages, beautifully scenic woodland, rolling green meadows and plenty of cozy inns and bed and breakfast spots to choose from, weddings don’t get much more picturesque than this.

For the well-cultured couple: San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

This amazing 500 year old town is practically brimming over with history and old-world charm. From the Spanish Colonial–style architecture, chapels and churches that date back centuries to classic Spanish courtyards, cobblestone streets and stucco walls, it’s like stepping back in time. Better yet, with pleasant weather all year round and an incredible variety of galleries, eateries, spas and cultural events to keep your guests entertained, you and your beloved will be able to soak it all in at your leisure!

Best wedding destination/honeymoon combo: Jamaica

If you’re already having your wedding in paradise, why go anywhere else for your honeymoon? And that’s just what the golden beaches, sparkling turquoise waters and lush landscapes of Jamaica have to offer! With venues set in tropical gardens, on the beach overlooking the ocean, or even beneath the stars on your own private island, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a venue for the ceremony. And once the guests have reluctantly made their way home, you and your new spouse have it all to yourselves to enjoy!

Best quirky wedding destination: Croatia

Croatia has enjoyed a well-deserved boom in tourism recently, and with its charming Mediterranean seaside villages, breathtaking views and beautiful old-world architecture, it’s not hard to see why it’s becoming a popular spot for a destination wedding too. It’s also just a two and a half hour flight from the UK, and one of the most affordable spots in Europe. By far the most popular town for weddings is the stunning seaside town of Dubrovnik, which aside from all its natural beauty has gained a little bit of fame as the filming location for King’s Landing in the popular TV series Game of Thrones!

Best classic European wedding: Edinburgh, Scotland

As the most visited city in the UK after London, the range and diversity of things to do in this exciting city is practically endless. From touring the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, and Holyrood house Palace, to strolling the National Gallery of Scotland or indulging in some serious retail therapy in vibey New Town, your guests are in for the experience of a lifetime. Better yet, with accommodation available from five-star luxury to cozy backpackers and everything in between, you can design your destination wedding to fit your budget too.
