What Are Your Teething Remedies, Seriously?

HELP ME

Recently my son has been driving me literally down on the floor. I am on the floor begging him to go to sleep. Just for 5 minutes can I put you down! What is with these kids now a days. Always wanting their moms love. My son who is 4 months now and for being a preemie has out grown most babies his age. I came to a conclusion he is teething. His hands are constantly at his face and fists in his mouth. He also is such a wiggle worm and very uncoordinated. He constantly knocks out his binky. I think he hates it anyway.

Really, I am about toooo…… bake some cupcakes and eat them all in a locked bathroom with a note saying I am not sharing! GO AWAY!

I also am breastfeeding him and it seems that is the only solution to anything these days. He will fall asleep so easy while eating but take him off my boob and  his six sense awakens and  he is as awake as I am on 3 cups of coffee. I asked on facebook the other day for some remedies. I got a ton of great answers. One very interesting one was chew on celery. This never ever occurred to me. It is a natural numbing agent! YES, So as a kid eating like 4 stalks of it and my mouth would start  feeling weird. Now it all makes sense! Well I also looked into a natural pain relief  product. I heard a lot of ranting and raving about teething tablets. Well My husband went to the local CVS (thank gosh they are open 24 hours) I think he bought everything they had for teething. He came back with several teethers, infant ibuprofen, and Hylands teething gel.

FOUND IT Hylands Teething Gel!!! I shouted in my head while doing a mom victory dance! I get to sleep tonight, maybe. Well  Hylands teething gel worked I must say. Being the curious mom I am I choose to try it on my gums. I was wondering if it numbed it or how it felt.  I would like to know what I am rubbing on his gums every so often. It felt different but nothing bad tasteing or weird at all.. I was impressed. My little trick was putting some on his binky and letting him suck on that. The binky did the rubbing it into his gums for me and he would fall happily asleep. While he is a baby still and there is always trial and error, it has been a bit more reasonable to deal with, with these helpful aids.

Almost to my happy place.

This may be my third kid but everything is so different and new all over. Crazy how each child can be so different. IF you only knew my birth story about my third. You would all be so entertained and jaw to the floor by the time you were done reading  it. He was also a preemie but growing strong now. That was a battle in itself.  I just forgotten after three years all these first! Teething, crawling, walking, all the attention they just love to be given.

You know what really melts my heart. Seeing his adorable face at 2am smiling at me. Being the mom I am. I sit there in awww but also thinking what kind of stinker did you just do that your that happy at this hour. Surprises me all the time! Let me know your stories on teething. What remedies did you use and try!

In the end I end up with a super cute, happy boy!

  1. Have you heard about baltic amber teething necklaces?? Get one! Totally helps you will see a difference.

  2. Some remedies that I have used and have worked;

the amber necklaces (make sure you get amber and not the plastic knock off).

Using the mesh feeders fill it with a breast milk ice cube and let him suck/gnaw on that

    Hylands teething tablets

I hope you get a rest soon

  3. Oh, I remember teething issues when mine were little. I’m glad you found a great solution, and what a cute little guy!

  4. Hang in there mommy! He sounds like my oldest. I breastfed him for a year, he was never happy unless he was on the boob! He never took a pacifier, he wanted the real thing. We breastfed at feeding time, anytime he needed comforting, sleep time….I slept with him on the couch with my boob in his mouth constantly. I did it all way wrong I think, but nothing else made him happy! He was 17 lbs at his 6 week checkup, and just kept growing! He is a big boy now, at 7 he is not overweight, but tall and handsome! You are doing wonderful breastfeeding your child, it is hard work. The teething, you just have to suffer through it, and it’s ok to make yourself some cupcakes and eat them on the bathroom floor by yourself. Whatever makes you feel better! haha! Glad you found a teething gel that works! I have never heard of Hylands, but will be recommending it to my cousin when her newborn begins teething!

  5. I think my kids lived off Hyland’s when they were teething!

  6. Oh I remember my daughter at four months old, I don’t know if she was teething but she would do the same thing, fall asleep on the boob then wake up as soon as I moved her, I then learned their sleeping patterns change at that age…they associate sleep with however they fell asleep…ugh…I then just layed her in her bed and let her fall asleep on her own…I make that sound so easy…it wasn’t;) Anyhoo I also Like that Hylands teething gel.

I LOVE Hyland’s products especially their teething tablets.

  8. In addition to they Hyland’s, what you need is an auntie au pair… someone to take the hand-off while take 15 minutes to enjoy a cupcake with 2 free hands. My nephew and I used spend a lot of quality time chatting after he (literally) sucked the life out of my sister and then decided that sleeping was for the weak.

your not gonna like this…..but maybe a bottle of water or juice. I breastfed all 5 of my kids, but I also gave them a bottle of water or Juice. We all need water. Think about it, do you wanna drink milk all the time? And the juice. Get the organic Juice, or make it yourself (Hmmm). I would be calling Hylands lol and seeing about representing thier product on here since you have first hand experience! Theymay send you lots for free lol. Aww I am so glad those days are over for me. One day you will look back on this and it will all be different as your telling your daughter in law what you went thru when she is battling it lol lol.
