Well now that the weather is getting a little warmer and kids are out of school or soon will be, it is time that we start thinking about summer and the beach. We all know or can kinda guess on what to take to the beach when we have school age children in tow, but what do you take with you when you have an infant? Hopefully this post about Baby and the Beach… no it is not Beauty and the Beast..will give you some tips so that you, your family, and yes, your baby will enjoy themselves or at least be comfortable while at the beach!
How to Enjoy Yourself at Beach with Baby
1. Take Sunscreen- When taking baby to the beach make sure you are stocked up on hypoallergenic baby sunblock. Make sure that is has SPF 30 or higher and apply 20-30 minutes before going out and 2 hours afterwards. I do not know how many parents actually pack the sunscreen and then forget to reapply it.
2. Swim Rompers- Swim Rompers are just the thing to keep baby well protected from the sun. These swim rompers look like long sleeve pants and a shirt but surely help to prevent sunburn.
3. Sun Hat- Never, ever, forget to take a sun hat to cover your baby’s head when heading out to the beach. Their skulls are tender and do not have as much hair as an adult. They can also get sun stroke very fast.
4. Bouncy Seat= Take along a bouncy seat so baby can sit up, bounce, and enjoy the scenario.
5. Play Mat- Play mats are a great thing to have while at the beach. Baby will enjoy playing with the toys and other apparatus that comes along with the fold away play mat.
6. Diaper Bag- Make sure that you take along an insulated diaper bag to carry prepared bottles of sterilized water, baby formula, diapers, change pad, and other change necessities.
7. Beach Umbrella- Take along a big beach umbrella so that the whole family can be protected from the glaring sun. Plan to keep the family occupied and out of the sun during peak hours, which is usually 11-3 EST.
