BubbleBum, the First Inflatable Car Booster Seat, Reminds You to Measure for Safety—It Saves Lives!
Preventable injuries are just that—preventable. And preventable injuries are the #1 cause of death of children in the United States. Kids must be at least 57″ tall to ride in a car without a booster seat, so if your little one’s life is important to you, remember to measure for child passenger safety. The award-winning BubbleBum inflatable car booster seat is spreading the word to educate parents on booster seat safety rules for older kids. This is in light of the release of Safe Kids Worldwide’s “Buckle Up: Booster Seats” research report during Child Passenger Safety Month, which uncovered the shocking facts and figures below. Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to child passenger safety!
- Car crashes are the 2nd leading cause of death in children aged 4-10
- Out of the 1,000 parents of children aged 4-10 surveyed, 9 out of 10 are allowing their children to merely use a seat belt without a booster before they are big enough.
- The research also found that 7 in 10 parents do not know what size a child should be to ride in a car without a booster seat.
- Children more than 40 lbs. should use a forward-facing, belt positioning booster seat with the lap belt fitting low and tight across the lap/upper thigh area and the shoulder belt snug across the chest and shoulder until they are 57’ and between 80-100 lbs.
- Booster seats can reduce the risk of serious injury by up to 45% compared to standard seat belts.
- Children who wear seat belts, but should be in a booster, are at risk for severe abdominal, head and spinal injuries in an accident.
- 1 in 5 parents say they “bend the rules” when it comes to carpooling and allow children to go without a seat belt or go without a booster seat they are usually accustomed to.
“It’s usually an honest mistake and made by many parents who feel their child ‘seems’ too big or old enough to use a standard seat belt without a booster. Or their child balks about being too old for a booster seat. But the fact of the matter is booster seats save lives. Take the time to measure your child to confirm they are the correct size before moving up to a seat belt. You’d be surprised to find that the size of an average 3rd grader is just 50 inches.”—BubbleBum founder Grainne Kelly
- Inconvenience: Mom doesn’t have time to coordinate car seat exchanges between cars and relatives. Unlike rigid seats, BubbleBum can travel with the child with ease as it is inflatable, deflatable, and compact.
- Big kids are resistant to ride on a ‘baby seat.’ BubbleBum is cool and funky, appealing to the 4-11 year audience. With its stylish purple and black designs, it is definitely not a ‘baby seat’!
- The exorbitant costs of renting car seats from car rental firms ($7-$11 per day) is a real barrier to booster seat use. BubbleBum is easily portable and affordable, so no more ridiculous rental charges and you can guarantee the history and hygiene of the seat you are using.
- BubbleBum is the narrowest booster seat on the market, making it easy to seat three kids across the backseat instead of having to upgrade your family car!
