Christmas Homeware Gift Ideas
If you are currently scratching your head wondering what to buy someone for Christmas, you do not need to look any further than homeware. Most people need items for their home, or the place they live. Even a friend, or family member, who lives in a rented room, will appreciate receiving bedding sets as gifts.
Below is my round up of some of the best items I have come across recently. If you have some ideas too, please feel free to comment below, and share them.
Homeware gifts for elderly relatives
If you have an elderly relative you are trying to buy for, bedspreads make ideal gifts. My older friends regularly complain about having cold feet in bed. A throw or bedspread can be used during the day, as a way of dressing the room.
At night, it can be folded back so that it covers the bottom half or quarter of the bed, providing an extra layer of warmth for the legs and/or feet. If it gets chilly during the night, it can be pulled up over the rest of the body without the need to get up and stumble about in the dark finding an extra blanket.
Homeware gifts for kids
Now I know you are going to be surprised that I mention buying homecare gifts for children. However, some kids would like something like a Lego themed wall light for their room, or a set of themed. If you know your friend is on a ridiculously tight budget, buying that bedding set that their children have been nagging them for, could help them out a lot as well as please their children.
Homeware gift for students
If you know someone who has just gone off to university, linen and cookware can make good gifts. Items like fluffy towels are expensive, so are particularly welcome.
Tableware and ornaments
Tableware also makes great gifts. A nice set of dinner mats, a new tablecloth or a set of cutlery are all great ideas. If you have a friend or family member who still uses a matched set of crockery, buying them some spares could work. No matter how careful you are, items get broken, so having replacements available is always a good idea. Items like ornaments, cushions, rugs and other decorative accessories also make good presents.
Homeware vouchers
If you are not 100% sure what to buy, you could always take the easy way out and give gift vouchers. Most of the larger retailers and big department stores still sell them. Just be aware that many of them now have an expiry date, so check the terms and conditions before buying.
If you do choose to give homeware as a gift, it is usually wise to keep the receipt and make it clear that you will not be offended if the person you give it to wants to change it. Everyone’s tastes differ, so you need to be realistic and give your friends and family the chance to exchange your gifts, should they want to do so.
