Which Stair Type Is Suitable For Your Dream Home?

The average price of an Australian home is in the region of $700,000. This is making it far too expensive for many people to ever afford.

If you are facing this fact then you are left with several options:

  • Rent for the rest of your life.
  • Join the tiny house movement and live in miniature. This is a great idea although not suitable for everyone.
  • Build your own dream home.

If you’re looking to build your dream home then you’re going to need to speak to an architect and to Active Metal. While many people spend hours designing their perfect home they often overlook the importance of choosing the right stair type.

But these stair types can transform your home, making the journey from downstairs to upstairs a delight every time!

Curved Staircase

Nothing says elegance and style like a staircase which curves up into the sky. It adds a feeling of grandeur into your home and space.

Of course, you will need enough space to incorporate this style of staircase without overpowering the walls.

Glass Balustrades

If your room is limited and you need to opt for a straight staircase then add glass balustrades, they will bounce light round your house and look fantastic.

Glass balustrades are just as strong as any other material and can add a barely there feel; enhancing the surrounding area.

Double Up

If you have the space then you can run one straight set of stairs up each side of the space available. They can then be connected at the top to provide a mansion style staircase and the illusion of grandeur.

This is a simple and easy to install design as the stairs are mounted against the wall. But it will look fantastic.

Spiral

For people with limited room or the need for a secondary flight of stairs the spiral staircase is perfect.

Traditionally this is designed from metal and can be as ornate as you wish. Of course, metal is not the only option available to create your perfect stair type, speak to a professional about other materials. If you can visualize it they can design it!

Wavy

Create n optical illusion by running your stair case through the idle of the space and weaving it towards the upstairs. This will create a slight bend, or wave in the staircase.

If you combine this with metal rods under the treads and a glass balustrade you can get the appearance of a staircase which goes against the laws of gravity.

In fact, get it right and the staircase will appear to be floating away, giving you the thrill of walking into empty air. The look is truly stunning and very contemporary.

This is perhaps the real issue with choosing the stair type for your dream home. There are hundreds of different styles to choose from but you’ll need to decide first whether you wish to go with contemporary or modern. You can then design your own perfect stair type for your dream home.
