Find the perfect Greece rental 

Depending on where you decide to send your holidays in Greece there are a few accommodation types you can look for these range from mykonos vacation rentals on the fabulous Greek island to 5* hotels in the capital Athens. Most of the methods you probably already know and have tried but depending on your circumstances some might be using other not so much. Finding the right rental for you, be it a house or a hotel room is always important. Showing up to a dilapidated or unfinished property can put a dampener on your whole experience and it is not how you want to spend your holidays. 

We have looked at several locations and some of the more useful ways to find the perfect location for yourself, this ranges from word of mouth to apps and everything in between. We have looked at a few travelling styles and budgets to see what works for you and maybe you can try a new style of travelling to help your budget or experience. 

Budget traveller: 

This can be the cheap backpacker or those seeking budget-friendly options. These can be found throughout Greece but obviously staying out of the key tourist areas is important and travelling off peak season are two common methods of finding cheaper accommodation and rentals. 

You will have a far better time grabbing a bargain on the islands more so than in Athens or other big cities. This is due to their popularity as transport hubs and the huge draw the cities are themselves, primarily Athens. 

The islands will at least have some rural locations and private housing which could be found on Airbnb before your arrival. If going on a package holiday you could see if the agency has any contacts with rental agencies which will allow you to snag a good deal on villas or other private properties not being use. 

For those wishing to stay longer i.e. the backpacker groups, volunteering is always a good option. You could look for work which will provide you with free accommodation or subsidies rentals for your time and energy in doing several jobs. Housesitting is also another good option. 

Mid-range travellers: 

Again, for me, I believe the islands would have the largest range and best opportunities to find rentals in your price range. If travelling as a group it would be quite possible to find villas and properties in your price range especially among the larger party destinations of Ios, Zakynthos and Mykonos as they cater more for groups seeking their own place to party and unwind.  

Perhaps you can find a closed community which has a quieter atmosphere for those wishing to find it. If travelling as a couple, then homestays which are quite like bnb’s I Ireland and England are the best places to look. This can be done through a travel agency although I find it better to research and book yourself as you are in direct contact with the owners allowing you access to all the information regarding the accommodation from location to food and room-sized. 

This is ideal for couples especially in the romantic islands such as Rhodes or Santorini. Staying in a guest house gives you a level of privacy and intimacy which allows you to make yourself feel at home. Something you want when on a romantic getaway. 

Then again Airbnb provides this at an exceptional level, however, during peak summer months it may be impossible to find something for you or within your price range. 

High-end traveller: 

Having more of a free range with your budget also allows you the freedom to pick and choose the accommodation of your choice. The popular islands of Greece have everything you need and more while Athens as the capital will have this plus the shopping, cuisine and sites that you want to visit on a Greek holiday. 

For shoreside villas and mountaintop views, the islands of Crete, Rhodes and Mykonos offer some of the best selections on high-end villas, apartments and hotels. Whatever your taste can be catered for. 

I find though that the Athens provides the best value for money in terms of higher-end accommodation and hotels. Obviously being a city there is plenty to choose from in terms of accommodation and the quality of service which you expect from such establishments. 

Let us view some of the locations and activities which you can get up to: 

Athens: 

The main sights in Athens include the Acropolis which towers of the city and was once the seat of power in the city-state of Athens. The is probably the single biggest draw for visitors to the city as you get to learn about the growth of this amazing society. 

Santorini: 

This is the picture-perfect location for couples and newlyweds who wish to experience the Mediterranean and its beauty in a tranquil setting. you can spend hours simply walking along the streets with its beautiful whitewashed walls. 

Mykonos: 

Discover the stunning beaches and amazing landscape of this island. You can either party the night away or spend your days traversing the island through its hiking paths. You will not be short of water sports or snorkelling activities here.
