How to Rock the Floral Look

Are you trying to put together the perfect floral outfit? When creating a floral ensemble, you also need to consider options like clothing or accessory types, materials, styles, colors, and sizes.

But where do you start? Just donning a summer dress with rose, tulip, or daisy prints simply isn’t enough. You should also know how to pull off the trend with finesse and style. Here are some helpful tips to add some power to your attire.

Start Out Small

You can wear one floral piece to begin with. This can be a printed dress, blouse, or skirt; or accessory like a hat or purse. Even one piece with colorful flowers can get you in the spirit of the trend, and then you can build on that.

One option to get you started is a floral sun hat. These hats not only look wonderful with an outfit but can also help to protect your face and body from harsh sunrays. This is a big plus during the dog days of summer. If you don’t have a floral sun hat, you can turn your ordinary summer hats into one by adding artificial silk flowers to achieve that floral ensemble.

Don’t Forget the Texture

When picking clothing or accessory with flowers, it’s easy to focus on the floral print. This is especially true when wearing a dress or matching blouse/skirt since the pieces are the main attraction.

The print is important, but it’s also important to keep other factors in mind, like the clothing material and texture. This can help the outfit to pop like a field of sunflowers. For example, you can pair up a floral skirt with suede top or blend floral pants with a crochet top. These perfect combos will help to create a unique look and feel.

Be Bold

Does this mean you should create outfits with floral details that that are weird and wild for no reason? That would be a fashion faux pas. A better approach is to experiment by mixing and matching classic looks with bold floral prints.

Here are some approaches to take. Experiment with different materials like silk, cotton, lace, and leather, and pick warm colors to give your skin a healthy glow. Try to complement a flower-embroidered blouse or jacket with smart pants or pencil skirt. You can also offset bright colors and wild prints with basic accessories.

Before You Go

Like other trends, creating floral ensembles isn’t an exact science or art. On one hand, you should consider how different prints, colors, and textures work together. At the same time, you should also think outside the box.

Hans Christian Anderson once wrote that people need “a little flower” in their lives. That includes floral prints, for sure!
