How to prepare your body for summer

Unless you happen to reside in a country which takes advantage of year-round sun, you’ll usually have to make a few adjustments as the summer months come around.

When we talk about these adjustments, we’re referring to the various things you can do to your body to prepare it for the different climate. As we all know, whilst the sun can initiate a great tan for the next few months, it also has a few drawbacks in relation to aging.

Following on from the above, let’s take a look at some of the best tips you can implement as you prepare your body for summer.

Don’t be afraid to turn to the fake tan

This first point might appear to be a little contradictory, particularly when this is the period in which you can actually receive a natural tan. As we have already spoken about, the problem with this is the potential for sun damage, which can lead to all sorts of issues.

As such, the next time you are around the Covent Garden beauty shops, or any for that matter, turn to some fake tan. You don’t necessarily have to use it every day, but it can just mean that you aren’t desperate to reach those rays all of the time – which will save your skin somewhat.

Exfoliate away the winter

Next on the list is trying to forget about those cold, winter months – which often prompt a whole host of separate problems for your skin. Some people turn to a flaky mess – with their skin just not able to cope with the low temperatures.

This is where you need to forget about those times. Take a warm bath, and start an extensive exfoliation process. Call it your summer skin, or whatever takes your fancy, but you’ll feel like a new person for the warmer months and that’s all that matters.

Make the most of salad season

In winter, it can be difficult to stick to a strict diet. After all, when the door is closed, most of us are just looking for some utter comfort food to help warm us up.

Suffice to say, these problems don’t exist in summer. Instead, salads are much easier to bear, so take full advantage. They will be much more enjoyable, due to the refreshment factor, and allow you to get into shape a little more.

Keep on top of your sleeping patterns

Another area which can suffer during the summer months is your sleep. Due to the lighter evenings and lighter mornings, it means that it suddenly becomes much more difficult to both fall asleep and get up at the “right time”. You’ll find the natural light waking you up at the crack of dawn – and your body paying the price later in the day. Prepare accordingly for this by buying some blackout blinds or curtains, which can at least prevent the sunlight from having any interference with your time on the pillow.
