Five Ways to Embrace Fall and Help You Say Goodbye to Summer

For many people, the start of fall is a bittersweet moment. It’s the end to the long, hot, hazy days of summer where you get to spend so much time outdoors and all the summer activities. Rather than wallow at the end of summer though, why not find some fun and positive ways to embrace fall and find the beauty in the season. Just because it’s time to pack the swimsuit and sandals away doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of other activities you can enjoy.

Here’s a look at five ways you can embrace fall and learn to look forward to the season change.

Create a Comfy Reading Nook

While there will still be plenty of beautiful crisp fall days that you can spend outdoors, there will also be those rainy and chilly days where you’re better off indoors. With that in mind, why not create a comfortable and cozy reading nook in your home that will allow you to catch up on all the reading you’ve been wanting to do.

Some of the reading nook essentials include a comfortable and supportive chair that you can stretch out in, a couple of throw pillows and blankets, a reading lamp, and a table where you can rest your book. You can also help set the atmosphere with handmade candles with the scent that relaxes you – follow the link to find out more about a popular handmade candle supplier.

Whip Up Those Fall Dishes

The summer is synonymous with quick and easy meals, cold salads, grilling, and fresh ingredients. Now that fall is here, it’s time to switch up your recipes. This is the perfect time to start making those warm comfort meals that tend to be a little heavier and take a bit more effort in the kitchen. Things such as stews, pot roasts, elaborate pasta dishes, casseroles, and creations in the slow cooker are all ideal for fall.

If you want to get especially festive, you can also embrace the traditional flavors of the season, which tend to be warm spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg, pumpkin, apple, and caramel.

Splurge on a Few Wardrobe Pieces and Accessories

One way to get excited for a change in season is to splurge on a few new trendy wardrobe pieces and accessories. A pair of new fall boots or a great new purse is the perfect way to embrace the change in weather. Fall is traditionally known for warm shades of red, orange, rust, brown and yellows when it comes to trendy pieces.

Get Out and Enjoy the Beauty

Just because the temperatures are falling, it doesn’t mean you can’t be outdoors. In fact, the cooler temperatures often make it more comfortable for doing outdoor activities. One of the best activities in fall is to go on a walk or hike to truly appreciate all the stunning colors of the season. Other fall activities include apple picking, visiting a cider mill, hayrides through pumpkin patches, and pumpkin picking.

Visit the Fall Fairs

Many cities, towns, and villages also host fall-themed fairs and carnivals. Often, you’ll get to sample some great local foods and drinks and check out various handmade arts and crafts.
