How to Choose the Right Location for the Best First Date

Congratulations! You’ve got a date, which is often one of the most challenging parts of the dating process. You need to muster up the sometimes-significant courage to ask someone out, and we know all too well that the fear of rejection is a big hurdle for a lot of people. Now that you have your date, the next step is to do what you can to make sure it would be a memorable and fun experience for both of you. When choosing a location for your date, there are a few things to keep in mind – choosing a relatively neutral location, so that your date feels at ease, picking an area that enables you to get to know each other, and then deciding if a more active date is best for you.

If you’re not already acquainted enough with your date to know what kind of a location he or she would like, pick something neutral. If you already know your date through a club or hobby, then feel free to choose a more exciting date! If that isn’t the case, though, the objective of the first date is to do something in a low-pressure place where you can get to know each other better.

Two classic date choices are dinner at a fancy restaurant or going to the movies. These aren’t necessarily the best choices, though, for a couple of reasons. If you go for a meal together, and find that you don’t click right away, it may be uncomfortable to sit through the whole thing without an easy escape. Also, a meal in a fancy restaurant places some pressure on who should pay, and you have no idea if your date is happy spending hundreds of dollars on a first date. Seeing a movie is also not the best choice, as you’re essentially spending 2 hours in a room with someone not able to talk! One recommendation is to try to find a relaxed bar or coffee shop where you can have a casual drink, and if things are going well, have in mind one or two additional places to go afterward

The location you met the person may also have an impact on what you choose to do on your first date. If you met on a dating site like interracialdatingcentral, you’d most likely want to stick to a safer date that would put your date at ease. However, if you’ve connected on a website or dating app and have a common interest, it can be a great idea to use this. If you both have on your profile that you enjoy similar music or like the outdoors, you may want to think of a date that complements this. Choosing a date location that fits both of your interests will help you connect, and give you a topic to talk about from the start.

Once you’ve selected your dating location, make sure to have fun! If you’re compatible with someone, you can have a good time at a bus stop, so make sure to try to enjoy yourself and connect with the person you’re dating before anything.
