Five Affordable Dream Vacations to Finally Take in 2019
You may have worked hard throughout the years, but life hasn’t afforded you with many opportunities to take a well-needed break. Family responsibilities, financial issues, or health problems are just some reasons why you may have been putting your dream vacation on hold.
But now that we’re almost halfway through 2019, you’re probably yearning for adventure and are more than ready to explore the world! However, it’s possible that your budget is still tight, so here are five affordable dream vacations to take now.
Canada
If you live in America, Canada might seem a bit close to home. However, flying to Canada is both a highly affordable option and a great idea because it is an absolutely beautiful country with breathtaking scenery. Canada is well known for its snow–covered mountains, crystalline lakes and endless forests. For someone who enjoys the outdoors, Canada is an excellent place for taking leisurely walks or going hiking.
There are many other reasons why Canada is an excellent place for a vacation, even if you’re not that outdoorsy. It is a country that is heavily influenced by European culture. There are a number of French-style towns including Beaumont, Old Quebec, Goderich, and Legal.
All of these quaint, adorable towns look like they stepped out of a fairy tale and beautifully reflect classic French style and architecture. Imagine walking around and perusing the unique shops, or stopping to relax in a cafe. It will give you the same romantic vibe as being in Paris without having to cross the ocean!
China
When you’re shopping around for vacation quotes or the best holiday packages, a trip to China might not be your first choice with regards to affordability. However, a vacation in China is a lot less expensive than you may think. The most expensive part of going to China is going to be the flight. If you can nail this element, and find a reasonable price, the rest is going to be a breeze.
A round-trip flight to China can cost over $1000, but you can get a flight for as little as $500 if you book at least six months in advance. Once the flight is sorted, the accommodation is really cheap, especially if you opt for self-catering. You can literally get self-catering apartments for around $20 to $30 per night, and these apartments can provide accommodation for numerous people. Thus, the savings are potentially huge, depending on how many people are splitting the bill.
There are so many things to see and do in China. The temples, the Great Wall, the floating markets, and the rural areas all offer unique and spectacular experiences for the adventurous traveler. If your budget allows for the expensive flight, the rest of your money will certainly go a long way. The total cost of a one week stay in China could cost as little as $1500, depending on how much spending money you plan on bringing with you.
Mexico
Mexico is a magical place that offers tourists a range of opportunities for unforgettable holidays. From Mayan ruins to cenotes to white, sandy beaches, Mexico has something for everyone. The Chichén Itzá ruins are a must-see for anyone interested in Mayan history. These are probably the most famous Mayan ruins, and highlight the Mayans when they were at their peak of their cultural and technological progress. Imagining the life of the Mayans, who were an innovative and technologically advanced civilization, transports visitors back to a world of magic and superstition.
If you’re more of a sun worshiper than a history buff, Mexico has you covered. It has over 6,000 miles of beautiful coastline, with an impressive 450 official beaches. Some places within Mexico seem literally untouched by man, and its beaches are no different. Naturally, there are some tourist hot spots, but if your dream vacation is going somewhere off the beaten track, you can certainly achieve this in Mexico.
With regards to price, the cost of living in Mexico is currently 51.06% lower than in the United States. Tourists can enjoy this benefit when they do things like buy a beer at a bar or enjoy a meal in a restaurant. Other appealing aspects for holiday makers are Mexican food, art and culture. If you like things spicy and full of flavor, you will love authentic Mexican food.
Mexico is also well known for its folk and ethnic art, and many Mexican towns are colorful and vibrant scenes of exotic culture, with markets that sell unusual wares. If you’re looking for a dream vacation that won’t stretch your wallet, Mexico is overall an excellent choice. If you like road trips, you can even choose to drive instead of fly, and stay in motels when you get tired. Whether by plane or by car, traveling to Mexico won’t drain your finances.
America
Just because you live in America doesn’t mean you can’t have a vacation in America. In reality, America is more like fifty small countries as opposed to one big one. Every state is completely unique, and the potential for a magical holiday is limitless. The first thing you should do if you decide to go on holiday somewhere in America itself is to figure out what kind of holiday you want.
You can pretty much choose any type of holiday you like, and there will be somewhere here that can provide it. Looking to stay in a resort and simply lounge by the hotel pool and get a tan? Try Florida. Known as the Sunshine state, Florida is full of beautiful resorts, palm trees, and consistently warm and sunny weather.
Would you prefer a holiday that removes you from the noise of the city? Maybe you live in and work in New York, and simply need to drown out the stress of urban life for a while. Why not rent a cabin in Michigan during the cold winter months? You can wrap up in warm clothes or fluffy pajamas, put logs on the fire, and cosy up with a warm cup of cocoa and a good book.
Maybe you’re from a Southern state who has always wanted to travel to the city? Why not book a trip to New York? St. Patrick’s Day in New York is one of the most well-known celebrations. You can book a hotel for a couple of days, enjoy the parades, walk around Central Park, and do some shopping.
Or perhaps you want something with a bit of mystique or history surrounding it? Why not go to a mining town in one of the Southern states and mine for gems while finding out all about the heritage of the town?
Clearly, there are tons of things to do in America. For your affordable dream vacation, you might not even need to pay for a flight at all. Depending on which state you live in, and which you wish to visit, you can realistically drive to any venue you desire. If you don’t want to slug away in traffic and be at the driving wheel for hours on end, look into other travel options. Alternatively, you can simply take turns with whoever you’re going on the holiday with, and take rest stops often to break up the monotony of driving long distance.
Another idea for an affordable dream vacation in America itself is to actually go on a road trip. You can bring a tent or RV and stay in designated camping spots, which will save you even more money. It’s up to you whether you want to create an itinerary, or just drive with no particular destination in mind. The things you will see, the people you will meet, and the memories you will create, will be truly unforgettable. All of these options, without having to spend big money on hotel suites and expensive flights — why wait?
Ireland
Ireland is a place where many Canadians and Americans would love to go. Well guess what? A plane ticket to Ireland, depending on where you’re flying from of course, will cost less than $1000 for the round trip. If you’re flying from Orlando, for example, a ticket will cost around $700. The peak season for flying to Ireland is during the summer months, particularly in June and July. Your best bet for mild weather is to travel in April or May, because Irish winters can stretch right up until February.
The costs in Ireland are pretty reasonable too. When there, you’ll be using the Euro currency, which can be disorienting when you’re trying to figure out what costs what. One Euro is the European version of one Dollar. One Canadian Dollar is equivalent to 66 cents, or 0.66 Euros, while one US dollar is equivalent to 89 cents, or 0.89 Euros. The conversion rate changes all the time, so be sure to keep track of it when you’re planning your trip.
Ireland is one of the oldest countries in the world. It has been populated for over 12,500 years. The result of this is a rich and vast culture and history filled with myths and folklore. One of the top tourist sites in Ireland is the Giant’s Causeway, a visually breathtaking rock formation based on the myth of the ancient giant Finn McCool.
It’s clear that these destinations don’t require a huge budget, and can provide an affordable dream vacation for a person of reasonable means. Now all you have to do is dream about where you’d like to go and make the necessary arrangements for the trip of a lifetime!
