How To Host The Best Parties

All opinions are mine and mine alone.

Party hosting should be super fun, but if you’ve ever hosted one, chances are you’ve got very stressed. You’ve probably run around the whole night checking on when guests are arriving or leaving, filling up drinks, serving up food and clearing up after everyone.

You might have several social groups mixed in one event. They may not mix, and you’ll end up spending the whole event running back and forth between everyone too. There will be no opportunity for you to relax and enjoy the night.

So, how do you host a party that you can enjoy too? By planning in advance and allowing time to prepare the right food and drinks, and by thinking up creative ways of mixing friend groups, you will be able to make sure that your night flows better.

Choosing The Drinks

Obviously, the most important order of business is making sure that you have the right drinks for the occasion. Catering to a mix of people will mean that you will need a selection. Beers and wines are a staple for any party. So try and get an option of each here. Gin cocktails might excite many of your guests, so brush up on some recipes and have plenty of the right ingredients ready to make a variety of them. Don’t forget though that some people won’t be drinking, and nobody wants to be an afterthought with unimaginative offerings. Think about getting some tasty, non-alcoholic cocktails made up too.

Making A Menu

Think about your food. These days there are a lot of variations in people’s diets for several reasons. With veganism on the rise, you’ll potentially have guests who don’t eat meat and dairy. But that’s fine; there are loads of great vegan party food recipes out there.

Go for menu options that are simple to make. Ideally make things in advance, such as pasta and pesto, salad and cold buffet savoury pastries.

Preparing

The aim here is that you have as little to do on the night as possible. Have as many of your dishes made in advance. Anything that you can and keep warm and serve will save you from having to cook or prepare on the night.

On The Night

Getting your guests to mix is the big challenge of hosting a party. You could easily spend all of the evening introducing people to each other. There is a much simpler way. Planning some party games can really break the ice. For team games, think about mixing up the groups to get your guests talking to each other. Plan ahead here, and work out in advance you might be well paired with each other. Games like Pictionary, or quizzes work well in large groups as they encourage interaction. You could make it exciting and have a small prize for the winning team.

Once the groups have merged through playing games, relax and chat. Have some music playing to create an atmosphere, but not too loud so that people can’t talk.

If you want to cook your food fresh on the night, you should use the simplest recipes possible, opting for foods that are quick and easy to make with little chance of messing up. Something like a dragon noodle recipe could be absolutely perfect for the occasion!
