The strength of nicotine in e-liquid is often measured in mg (milligrams) per milliliter (ml), often denoted as mg/ml. In most cases, however, the ml is left out, so don’t be surprised if you come across a label saying 12mg. Some brands may also express the concentration in percentage, meaning 12mg could easily be translated to 1.2%. Some will label their concentration as simply zero, low, medium, or even high.
Choosing E-Liquid Strength
Vape liquid options vary in flavor and strength, so it is important to choose a brand that is right for you. There are four different strengths you can choose which include 0 percent, 0.6 percent, 1.2 percent, and 1.8 percent. Choosing one of these options will depend on what you are used to. If you love smoking mild and light cigarettes, it is advisable to start on a lower strength of 0.6 percent nicotine strength e-liquids or cartridges.
Finding the Right Strength
Vapers often have varying preferences when it comes to determining the strength of their nicotine. Specifically, those who have quit smoking may be looking for e-liquids with zero nicotine. You need to determine what nicotine concentration in your e-liquid works for you. Note, the absorption rate ranges from 40 to 65 percent, and this usually depends on your style of vaping. Also, it is imperative to note that different gadgets have varying rates of absorption. For example, if a person is using a vape pen or an electronic cigarette, and another is using MOD with e-liquid strength that is similar in both cases, MOD will likely absorb more nicotine. Additionally, you will need to note that you can change the strength of your e-liquid by altering your vaping style. That is because the size, depth, and frequency of inhalation usually affect the amount of nicotine being absorbed.
When it comes to altering the strength of your e-liquid, the most important consideration would be the type of gadget you use. If you are a novice, you need to use an e-cigarette, and because the rate of absorption is less, you can choose a concentration of 12mg. That way, the absorbed nicotine will be approximately 6mg or even less. You can gradually increase your concentration if you feel you are not satisfied with the amount of nicotine absorbed.
If you are switching devices (from e-cigarette to MODs, for instance), you can begin at slightly lower levels of concentration. That is the case because MODs usually have a higher rate of absorption compared to e-cigarettes. Therefore, if you are used to 12mg, you can begin from 6mg. Again, if you feel you are unsatisfied with your nicotine, you can increase the concentration gradually to reach the levels you want.
Conclusion
Changing to the right nicotine strength is perhaps one of the most challenging things about vaping. Remember, it is not just about reading the label because the amount of nicotine absorbed could be different from what is on the label based on the reasons given above. You will need to try different concentrations so you can find what works best for you.
