What You Should Know About Building A Personal Brand

All opinions are mine and mine alone.

Building a personal brand is a powerful way to make sure you can spread your message far and wide. Building a personal brand is a good idea whether you want to garner infuence online, get a new job, grow your network, or something else. It takes you from being just another person to somebody people remember and want to listen to. If this is something you’d like to begin working towards, check out the ideas below:

Know What Your Values Are

Knowing your values is so important when you want to build a personal brand. Not only will this help you to strengthen your brand, it’ll help you to have a better time when searching for a role that suits you, within a company that aligns with your beliefs. Be prioritizing your values, you will be able to come up with unique vision of your personal brand.

Identify Your Passions

Your passions are just as important as your values. Your personal and professional passions should be properly identified. Professional passions might include technology and automation, while personal passions might include hiking, family, and painting.

By getting a good idea of your values and passions, you can figure out where you’d like to be in 5, 10, and even 20 years.

What Are Your Key Traits?

To figure out your key traits you need to be honest with yourself – you could even consider asking somebody you trust to help you. Perhaps you could even ask multiple people: an old boss, a friend, a family member, a colleague. You may be introverted, open minded, etc.

Remember, you don’t need to accept your key traits if you don’t like them. Once you are aware of them you can move away from them and try to develop better traits if you feel it would help your brand.

Your Image

Your image is very important when building a personal brand, it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve been told that looks don’t matter. You don’t have to be the most gorgeous supermodel on the planet, but you do need to focus on a few things. For example, you should have professional headshots taken so that people take you seriously. You should also focus on what you wear, and even what you drive, making sure that these things align with how you want to be perceived. If you care about the environment, for example, you wouldn’t be driving around in a fuel guzzling motor. You might, however, invest in diamond cut wheel repair purely because it looks good.

You can further build your image and credibility with content.

Define Your Target Audience

Just like any business out there, you need to define your target audience, too. Who is your message meant for? Who supports you? Who do you think would pay for your services? You could even come up with some consumer profiles so you know who you’re targeting.
