A Guide To Going On A Spa Date With Your Loved One

Going on a spa date is one of the most enjoyable things to do if you want to spend some quality time with a loved one. As 47 percent of American men are now getting spa treatments on a regular basis, it’s likely that your significant other may also enjoy a day of pampering just as much as you do. If you’re planning a special Valentine’s Day celebration or if you just want to take some time to relax, you’ll need to do a bit of research and plan accordingly so both of you can have a great time at the spa.

Do your research on room and treatment options

Most spas are couple-friendly as they have rooms wherein you can get a massage while lying on separate beds next to each other. However, you may have to book one of those rooms right away as many spas have limited spaces that can accommodate couples. You may also want to inquire if the spa offers treatment packages for two as you may get a better price for that rather than booking separate treatments from their spa menu. Also, if you book during a holiday such as Valentine’s Day, some packages may come with extra treats or freebies such as snacks, tea, or hot chocolate, so don’t be shy and feel free to ask what’s available so you can get the most out of your spa day.

Clear your calendars and turn off your phones

If you’re planning to get a spa treatment package, make sure to clear your calendars so both of you don’t feel like you have to rush through your treatments. Massage experts at Viva Day Spa affirm most couple spa packages consist of a standard massage, a full-body exfoliation, a steam towel treatment, and a scalp treatment, so plan on being there for at least two to three hours to enjoy all the services. You may also want to turn off your phones while you’re undergoing a treatment, as you don’t want to get a call while you’re in the middle of a soothing massage or a facial. If you’re worried about missing a truly important call or an emergency call, then put your phones on Do Not Disturb mode so your devices will only let calls through from certain people.

Have a light meal afterwards

All that pampering can leave both of you feeling a little peckish, so extend your spa date by having a light meal at the spa cafe (if they have one) or at a cozy bistro. Avoid anything heavy like pasta or rice dishes, and go for lighter food options such as vegetable wraps, salads, or a small thin crust pizza. Also, save the bottle of red wine for later, as it’s important not to drink alcohol or caffeine within the first few hours after a massage. Instead, have some ice cold water or infused water so you can prevent post-massage soreness the next day.

Going on a spa date can be a healthy, fun, and relaxing way to bond with your special someone. Try these tips to plan the best day ever and enjoy the full benefits of your spa treatment.
