Most Common Camping Complaints And How To Nix Them

All opinions are mine and mine alone.

Camping is a fantastic way to spend time with your friends, family, and other loved ones. Exploring a little bit of nature, relaxing under the stars, and getting some much-needed peace from the troubles of the modern world sounds good to most people. However, it’s also one of the easiest trips to make a mistake with. You need to fend for yourself, so if you fail to prepare properly, you can cause a lot of complaining. Here are some of the most common complaints you might hear and how you can handle them.

Weather woes

Being underprepared for the environment is far, far too common when it comes to the environment. If you haven’t already done so, then use weather forecasts to make sure that you’re choosing a good time to go camping with as much sun and as little rain as possible. Then once you’ve done that, be sure to prepare for the rain, anyway. In fact, you should prepare for all kinds of weather, packing both waterproof gear and gear to keep you warm and cold. Make sure you’re bringing a decent waterproof tent, as well. Don’t forget the sunscreen, either. Get in touch with all of your camping partners with a checklist to ensure they’re ready no matter what the weather brings.

Comfort complaints

Believe it or not, sitting in the middle of the woods can get pretty uncomfortable on your rear end. So, too, can lying on the ground with little to separate you from it but the canvas bottom of the tent. If you’re helping everyone prepare their own camping trip packing checklist, then you make sure that somewhere comfortable to sit and lie is amongst it. If your tent doesn’t already have a soft lining, you should bring your own with you. What’s more, ensure that everyone has the perfect camping chair. Otherwise, there’s going to be some tension when some people are sat comfortable and others are eyeing them up with envy.

Boredom

Good company and beautiful vistas might be enough to keep the majority of people on the trip entertained. For a while, at least. At some point, you’re going to want a little alone time or you’re going to want a little more stimulation. There’s nothing wrong with that. As such, it’s recommended that you bring some means of entertainment for yourself and maybe something to help the group better enjoy their time, as well. Bringing books to read, games to play, a radio, and so on should all be considered mandatory. A few little luxuries like a portable espresso maker or a camping shower can make the wilderness just a little easier to live in, as well. Keep some ideas for group games in mind, too.

Those food concerns

It’s one of the most common health and safety issues encountered when camping and it needs to be addressed seriously. You must ensure that you are following every tip when it comes to the safe storage and preparation of food. This means preparing and using coolers for any food that is susceptible to perishing due to heat. When you’re cooking, make sure that you’re using a meat thermometer to make sure that any meat is thoroughly cooked, otherwise you could risk food poisoning. If you’re inviting friends and family to come camping with you, then be sure to know their preferences if you’re preparing group meals, too. Just because you’re out in the wild doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options if they need them.

Machinery malfunctions

While some of us like to have a truly minimalist experience of the wilds as possible, there are others who might not be able to go without their favorite gadgets quite as easily. If you’re bringing any digital tech with you, then be sure that you check that it’s working in advance. If it’s having issues out in the wild, then there might be very little that you can do for it. Otherwise, it’s just as important to make sure you have the ability to charge them. Aside from making sure you bring all the right cables, a recharging station might be essential. Instead of charging them off the car battery, you can use a solar-powered USB charger to be safe.

There’s no guaranteeing that everyone will be happy with your camping trip. However, by following the tips above, you can at least ensure that most of those justified complaints are well and truly dealt with. It someone wants to be a negative nancy, that’s on them.
