We would all like to think that our cars could be our faithful friends throughout life saying as new and useable as they did on the day we got them, but that just isn’t the reality, and eventually, it will become necessary to buy a new vehicle, but how do you know when the time is right?
Your car needs a significant repair
One of the biggest signs that it’s time for a new car is the fact that your existing vehicle requires a significant repair stretching into the thousands, rather than hundreds of dollars. That’s just not a sustainable level of spending and you’d be better off buying a newer, more efficient vehicle.
It’s become too expensive to run
If your car requires a high level of maintenance to get it moving from week to week; if it’s less and less fuel-efficient as time foes by’ if you’re barely every away from the auto shop, it’s a pretty clear sign that a new car is on the horizon.
You don’t feel safe in it
If you no longer feel safe in your vehicle, whether because it’s always breaking down, or because it doesn’t have all the new-fangled safety features that more modern cars haven and which you can get additional info on here, it could be a sign you need to trade up. The safety of you and your family on the roads is the most important thing and if a new car will help you with that, well it’s a pretty good reason to bite the bullet.
It’s not right for your family anymore
If you’re still driving a 2-seater sports car despite having a baby and a dog in tow, well something has to give, right? If your car doesn’t fit your needs anymore, it’s probably time to say au revoir!
No one wants to ride in it
If your friend offers of ferrying your family and friends from place to place are always declined, well maybe it is you, or your car at least. Maybe they don’t feel safe in it; perhaps they don’t want to be seen in it; maybe they aren’t sure it will make it – whatever the reason, other people not wanting to ride in it is a big old red flag.
People are embarrassed by it
If you or maybe your kids are embarrassed to be seen in the car; if you find yourself ducking down whenever someone you know passes by when you’re in it, stop putting yourself through it, admit defeat, and hit the car dealership.
You just want a new car
There’s nothing wrong with just wanting a new car…well providing you can afford one that is. Sometimes, it’s okay to treat yourself and at least a car serves a useful purpose in your life. Sure, it will be sad to see the old one go, but the new one is likely to be packed with more fun features and neat tech gadgets that will make it all worthwhile in the end.
