All opinions are mine and mine alone.
2o20 has been a life changing year for all of us, and things like baby showers and parties and even weddings have been pushed to the backburner in favor of social distancing and wearing masks. All of the times that you planned for your friends and family have to change around and you have to host all of the parties you wanted to host on Zoom, instead.
The good news is that you haven’t lost your ability to have any parties at all. The only thing you need to do is wait and host them next year! You can still have the best baby shower for your best friends and sisters, you just need to know how to throw the perfect one! So, with this in mind, here are some of the best tips we’ve got for throwing the perfect baby shower.
Don’t Go It Alone
You do not have to plan a whole baby shower without help. It’s nice to host one, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get some help with the organizational details. You need to bring a friend in to help you as much as possible and you can balance each other and not take the pressure on your shoulders alone. You have a long list of things to do, from choosing a cake and decorations to planning games and music. You can also get some help with a registry for the modern baby shower gifts your friend will love. Things as small as the invitations can make a baby shower pop – so get some help and start your research.
Choose A Theme
Every baby shower should have a pretty theme – regardless of the flavor of the baby! Some people choose not to find out the gender at all and others incorporate a gender reveal into the shower itself. From nursery rhyme themes to colors, you can choose something beautiful for a baby shower. Some people go with animal themes and others choose themes surrounding clouds and sunbeams, and no matter what you pick, there will be baby shower themes on Pinterest to choose from.
Decorate
You can make such a statement with the decor that you choose for the baby shower. Right now, balloon arches and garlands are very in and you can transform your venue space with a beautiful balloon arch. You should think about the decoration across the tables and the colors of the decor that you will use, too! If you want to go one better, think about clear balloons filled with smaller balloons in the theme colors to make a statement. You want your guests to walk in and ooh and aah at the sight!
Choose Your Food & Drink
Of course, you don’t want to have too much alcohol at a baby shower, but there is no harm in champagne for the guests and apple cider for the lady of honor. For food, a baby shower can be a delicate affair with Afternoon Tea and fingers sandwiches. Don’t lay on a whole meal if it’s a smaller group of you: choose a light buffet instead. Your food and drink is going to round off the day, so keep the lady you’re showering in mind. If she has specific cravings, for example, you could cater for that and really make her day memorable!
Cake, Cake, Cake!
There has to be more than one cake when you host a baby shower. You want a beautiful one for everyone to slice into, but you should also consider a diaper cake. These are put together with diapers, clothes, teddy bears and other baby essentials. If you know that the mother is going to use cloth diapers, you can make a cloth diaper cake with inserts and diaper covers.
Bring A Guest Book
A baby shower is a memorable day for a new mother. You should bring a guest book to the day and go a little creative with it. You can choose her favorite children’s book and ask guests to sign that instead. This is a lovely memento from the day, and she can use it to read to her own baby one day.
Group Gifts – They’re A Lovely Idea!
Baby registries can be exceptionally expensive. It may be worth talking to all of the guests who attend the baby shower and going in on one of the big ticket items together. A beautiful stroller set, a new and top of the range car seat, even paying for a lactation consultant for a few sessions can be an excellent addition to the registry. Think of things to give that will really make the mother happy. Everyone buys sleepsuits and blankets, so try to stay away from them.
Fresh Flowers
When you consider your decor, why not think of a flower wall, a huge vase or two of flowers also looks gorgeous. Flowers are a beautiful addition to an event and for a baby shower, they make for lovely gifts to take home, too. You don’t want to leave flowers to go to the bin if you can help it. Fresh flower arrangements look beautiful in photos and you can choose to color-coordinate the flowers, too!
Thank You Notes
As your friend opens each gift, write them down and who they are from. Once you do that, you’ll be able to hand those and a thank you note seat to the mother to be after the party. She can then look over the list when she is less overwhelmed and start sending thank you notes.
Hire A Photographer
Candid pictures are a beautiful memento of the day, but hiring a photographer is going to help you to truly frame the most sentimental occasion! A baby shower is going to be a wonderful time together, and hiring a photographer to capture it will be the most beautiful way to remember the day.
