Movie nights most likely used to be a once in a while thing. But 2020 threw us a curveball, and movie nights are more often. Filling up all of the hours you spend together can take its toll from time to time.But if you want to make your movie night a little bit more unique, and ditch the packet of digestives (or keep them for after), then here are some quick tips on how to spice up your movie night.
Theme
With the world of online shopping at your fingertips, you can pretty much choose anything you like and snag a few decorations to go. If there is somebody in your household who has a big thing about dinosaurs, it won’t take long to create a dino-tastic evening. Other fun options that everyone can get involved in our comic book heroes and villains, Lego, and Pokémon. There are many games that you can even make yourself and create snacks to match.
If you have pre-selected the movie, you can print out a fun quiz once the film has finished.
Food
If you have children and other adults that are old enough to purchase or make snacks tried to do it so that the responsibility is not just on one person. You can experiment with different flavors of popcorn, make your own pizza, find some of the best frozen Chinese food, and even create a fun mocktail named after the movie you will be watching.Try to add in a mix of veggies and fruit snacks too.If you’re conscious of the recycling, then you can get reusable popcorn buckets and use those to serve any of the popcorn snacks.
Go big
Instead of watching your movie on your regular TV, consider getting a mini portable projector. You’re going to need either an ample wall space or a big white sheet to project onto, but that’s not too difficult to set up. Depending if the weather is being generous, you can even take the party into your garden.
Blankets
Is there anything as comforting as snuggling under your favorite blankets? Most likely not, and it is definitely something that you can’t do at a cinema. Grab all of the most love blankets make sure they’re washed and ready ahead of time so everyone can have a snuggly black blanket.
If you want to make this even more comfortable, pop them in the tumble dryer, or play some next to the radiator to warm them up. Hand them out just as you press play for extra snuggles.
Reviews
If you have had kids home for a little while due to school closures and other things that 2020 has presented to us, then this is a great way to help your children with recalling information. Ask them for some details about the film they have just seen. In fact, you could ask them to write an entire movie review.
And that’s a fun and straightforward way to create your own magical movie night.
