Winter Skin Care: Keep Your Skin in Top Shape Through Cold and Dry Winter

Cold winter air and harsh temperatures can really affect your skin. On top of that, low air humidity will leave your skin feeling dry and rough. The indoor air during this time of the year is usually quite dry, which is yet another reason your skin may appear less-than-ideal.

So, what can you do to battle all of these factors that are affecting your skin? Here are some easy yet effective ways you can make your skin glow even during cold and dry winter.

Develop a good skincare routine

What many people fail to understand is that a skincare routine is not a one-and-done type of thing. Instead, you should adapt your skincare routine to cater to the needs you currently have. So, while your summer skincare routine may be quite easy and involve just a couple of steps, your winter skincare routine may require a bit more effort. Ideally, you should determine what your winter skin issues are and find quality skincare products that will allow you to tackle those issues. Of course, you should always try to go with the best possible skincare product, such as those you can shop at Herbal Dynamics Beauty and keep your skin healthy and looking flawless.

Avoid long and hot baths and showers

Even though having a long, warm bath may seem like the perfect end of a winter day, it’s actually not the best thing you can do to your skin. Since warmth will promote sweating – and your skin is already probably quite moisture-deprived, indulging in a long, hot shower or bath can make your skin even dryer. Since the natural oils that your skin produces help keep it healthy, by stripping your skin of them you can only achieve the opposite.

Improve your indoor air quality

Next, the air outside can be quite harsh on your skin, but there’s really not much you can do about it except treating your skin with some protective products. But the indoor air can also be as harsh on your skin as the outdoor air. Luckily, this is something you actually can control. Since all of us are using different ways to heat up our homes during winter, the indoor air tends to get quite dry. Spending time in such an environment can easily strip your skin of its natural moisture and make it prone to flaking. However, you can easily use air humidifiers and bring some moisture back into your indoor air.

Stay hydrated

Finally, staying hydrated on the inside is equally as important as hydrating and moisturizing your skin from the outside. That is why you should make sure that you keep eating healthy and hydrating your body from the inside as well. Aside from drinking plenty of water, you should also add tea or a similar warm drink to your daily routine. This way not only will you hydrate your body but you’ll also get to enjoy a nice warm drink.

Winter weather can really be harsh on our skin. That’s why we must remember to adjust our skincare routine so that it caters to our skin’s current needs. On top of that, we must remember to stay healthy and hydrated from the outside as well as the inside, to avoid making any changes that can further compromise both the look and the health of our skin.
