You have to deal with the stress and expense of buying fancy dresses and shoes, planning bachelorette parties, and simply being a responsible adult for the duration of your friend’s wedding. Maybe you’re not as excited by the prospect as some of the other bridesmaids.
But don’t turn down that offer just yet. Being a bridesmaid is one of the most exciting, rewarding responsibilities you can ever have. And here are five excellent reasons why.
It’s an enormous honor
Whether it’s your sister or your best friend who is getting married, being asked to fulfill such an important role is one of the biggest honors you will ever receive. Their wedding is the most important day of their life, and they are asking you to be a significant part of it. Despite the burdens and difficulties that may come with the job, you should feel flattered that they trust you with all these responsibilities. Being someone’s bridesmaid will deepen your relationship with that person and create an unshakeable bond that will last for life.
The bachelorette party
It is usually the duty of the bridal party to plan the bachelorette party, so what better reason to become a bridesmaid than the opportunity for an enormous celebration? Not only will you get to attend it, but you’ll also be partly responsible for organizing it, so you can make it the best party ever. You’ll enjoy some delicious food and drink, play silly games and celebrate the bride’s last night before she enters married life.
A free photoshoot
It is common practice for the bride and groom to pay a professional photographer to take snaps at their wedding. As a major player on the big day, you can guarantee that you’ll feature in a considerable number of these photos. You’ll be looking your absolute best, having had your hair and makeup done, and kitted out in a stunning dress. It’s essentially a free photoshoot and you’ll go home with some professional shots for your Instagram.
The bridesmaids gifts
Although it shouldn’t be your main reason for accepting the offer, it is common for the bride to thank their bridesmaids with a gift. These bridesmaids gifts can often come in the form of beautiful jewelry, bags, clothing, and expensive beauty products. And the best bit is, assuming the bride is a close friend or relative, they will know exactly what you like.
You get the best seat
When you’re a bridesmaid, there’s no chance you’ll end up sitting in the back row in the church or dumped on a table with a bunch of introverted distant cousins. You’ll be right in the center of the action at all times. You’ll get to sit at the front of the church and watch the marriage unfold right in front of you, and when the wedding dinner takes place you’ll be at the bridal table with the rest of the VIPs.
