8 Kitchen Organization Hacks
The kitchen is the soul of a busy household. It’s where the food is prepared, where party guests inevitably gather, and where the daily debriefs occur. But in a busy household, keeping your kitchen organized and fabulous can feel like a mammoth task, particularly when you have a million and one other things to be thinking about! With these kitchen organization hacks, we’re going to share with you some cheap and easy ways to make your kitchen into the organized haven you deserve.
Storage bins
If your pantry is overflowing with a jumble of dried goods, storage bins offer the perfect solution! We recommend going for clear bins that allow everyone to immediately see what’s inside. Alternatively, printed labels can create an itinerary of content that makes life so much simpler. Long skinny storage bins are perfect for Ritz crackers, granola bars, applesauce pouches, etc.
Larger square bins are brilliant for dry goods such as pasta, rice, and chips.
Wire racks
Canned goods are a pain to store! Sure, they’re easy to stack and can fit almost anywhere, but having to crawl through the cupboards to find the canned tomatoes you need right at the back is a hassle that nobody needs! Wire racks are an excellent solution. The tilted angle allows you to see what’s at the back, and they’re simple to store. If you don’t like the look of wire racks, tiered shelves can achieve the same goals.
Lazy Susan
The Lazy Susan is an ingenious invention that can be used in any cupboard or corner of the pantry to make hard-to-reach areas far more accessible. They’re brilliant for canned goods, spices, bags of onions, cereal containers, or almost anything else. You could even utilize a Lazy Susan in your refrigerator to stop condiments from getting forgotten about.
Herbs and spices
Herbs and spices seem to multiply whenever you’re not looking! Start your organization by going through the tiny pots and checking expiry dates: you’ll be amazed at how many pots you can dispose of!
Once you’ve checked all your herbs and spices are in date, you have a few options for intelligent storage hacks. Firstly, you could make use of the back of cupboard doors to hang a convenient spice rack. Alternatively, use a Lazy Susan in the corner of your kitchen counter to transform your spices into a functional and attractive display.
Magnets can also be used to store and organize your spices with stylish printed labels on the lids.
Magazine holders
Magazine holders are a brilliant tool for kitchen organization as they can be used almost anywhere! Turn them on their sides to create easily accessible DIY shelves in your pantry, refrigerator, or even freezer.
Coffee bar
If you simply can’t cope without your morning cup of joe, you’re not going to want all your coffee supplies hidden away in some hard-to-reach cupboard. Make yourself a stylish coffee bar in the corner of your kitchen for an attractive yet functional and organized way to prepare coffee. If you don’t have the space to keep your coffee, sugar, etc., in the open, choose the cupboard closest to your coffee maker to store your coffee accessories and mugs. If you have a Keurig or other single-serve coffee maker, pick up a K-cup storage unit to make organizing these little coffee portions easier. This could be a draw that your Keurig sits on, or a Lazy Susan inspired storage rack.
Under shelf storage
Hanging baskets are a great way to utilize the space between your kitchen shelves and the countertop. We like using them for easily accessible snacks, plus they’re great for veggies. In addition to food items, attaching hooks to the underside of your kitchen shelves offers a brilliant storage solution for mugs and coffee cups that would otherwise take up precious cupboard space.
Pots and pans
Just like herbs and spices, pots and pans always seem to multiply when you’re not looking! Not only are there always too many for whatever space you’re storing them in, but lids and accessories seem to go missing constantly!
Bring some order to your pots and pans by using a tiered shelving system and storing lids using a curtain rod. If your pots and pans come with accessories (like this Dutch oven does: https://unocasa.com/products/enameled-cast-iron-dutch-oven), then store the accessories directly in the pot to keep everything tidy.
