Recently I have been turned off of meat. I know Tofu is usually thought that only vegetarians or vegans eat it. You can eat it just because you want to and enjoy it as well. There are no rules! My kids love chicken fries, so I choose to try a spin on it with the tofu and do tofu fries. Nasoya is one of my favorite brands. I got my organic extra firm tofu at Giant right near the produce section. Here are some great facts and info about Nasoya. Recipe
1 package of Nasoya super firm tofu
1/2 cup of flour
1 Tbsp paprika
1 Tbsp turmeric
1 Tbsp of garlic powder
1/2 cup of water, slowly add more if it is too thick.
2 cups of panko bread crumbs
Salt and pepper
First you want to drain the tofu and set on paper towels and also include some on top.Lay something heavy on top and let sit for about 20 minutes. Next cut into small long blocks like fries. Lay them flat and get a paper towel and press down with a pan to soak up more moisture.
Gather your batter supplies and combine everything but the panko crumbs. You want to have a good consistency of a slightly thick batter. Now you want to get your workspace ready. Bring your tofu over with your batter and panko crumbs in another bowl. Dip the tofu fry into the batter and then the panko crumbs. Lay on a sheet pan that has been prepped with nonstick spray. you will want to place in the oven at 350 degrees for about 15-20 minutes with flipping them in the middle. once they have a bit of golden color, take out and let sit for a minute. Get you plate ready and any dipping sauce you like. I have pictured a spicy ranch dip. Dip and enjoy.
