4 Must-Visit Destinations for Basketball Fans
Basketball is now a global sport and it keeps growing in popularity globally. Fans of the sport are also some of the most passionate. One of the things that make it so popular is how accessible it is; fans feel like they’re closer to the sport, and the athletes. If you’re a big basketball fan, you’re probably interested in more than just your team, however. Basketball has a lot of history and great sites to visit. Here are some of the destinations any true basketball fan needs to see at least once in their lives.
Madison Square Garden
While the Knicks are only now crawling out of irrelevance, there is nothing like watching a basketball match at Madison Square Garden. The atmosphere is electric and the building is full of sports history. The good thing is that the Knicks are actually semi-decent right now, but we would suggest that you come to watch them when they’re going against the Celtics, Lakers, or Brooklyn Nets for real fireworks.
Quicken Loans Arena
If you know something about Cleveland, you will know that fans in the city don’t have much to cheer about. But there was a time when they were on top of the world when Lebron James carried the franchise on his back for more than a decade. This has turned the Quicken Loans Arena into a mythical venue that still has some of Lebron’s spirit living there.
One thing about Cavs fans is that they love their team and stick with them through thick and thin, and watching a Cavaliers game there is truly something special. Another great thing is that tickets are still affordable, so if you have a large family and don’t want to pay the equivalent of your flight tickets on a game, this is a great place to go.
Basketball Hall of Fame
This one is a must for anyone who calls themselves a basketball fan. The hall of fame was named after James Naismith, the Canadian-American physician who gave us the game. This is arguably the most beautiful hall of fame in sports, and one of the most visited. It’s also one of the most comprehensive. It doesn’t only honour professional players, as some amateur players have been welcomed in it. It’s also one of the halls of fame that has honoured the most female players out of all professional sports.
Spain
We mentioned how global basketball is right now, and outside the US, Spain is where it’s the strongest. The Liga ACB is the second and most developed league outside of the US and is responsible for giving us Luka Doncic. Be prepared for a completely different ambiance than what you will see at any arena in the US or the UK, however. We would suggest you check out basketball streaming online of Liga ACB games so you can get yourself prepared. People are very passionate here, and they very much view their team as an extension of their city which can lead to very strong rivalries, but also for an awesome atmosphere.
These are all destinations most basketball fans will enjoy. Make sure that you look at all of them and pick those that would be the best for you and your family to experience.
