3 Bar Style Games To Play With Buddies

When entertaining friends or family, whether it is down the local bar, in the garden, or in the house, it can be difficult sometimes to get everyone relaxed and involved in what conversation is happening at the time. If you have guests who maybe have not met before or have not seen each other in a long time, having an ice breaker really is a must to make everyone comfortable within their surroundings. Here are some straightforward no-hassle ideas which may help stop those uncomfortable silences and awkward moments which every host dreads.

The topical quiz

Doing a bar-like quiz with a range of topics from music to films to sports is a fantastic idea. Split your guests into groups (best to let them decide who they pair up with) with an approximately equal number of players. If you have guests who have not met others before, it may be worth getting them involved with other groups, but do not split these people away from the people they do know, as this could make them even more uncomfortable.

Get your player groups to nominate a spokesperson to record all the answers to the questions while you ask the questions. When all the questions have been asked and answers are written down, you can either get the groups to switch their answer sheets with another team or allow them to mark their own. Do your research when looking into the questions you are going to ask. Make the topics as broad-reaching as possible, and be sure to have a few questions which will bring amusement to your visitors so that it is not without its fun. Obviously, you may have to give a prize to the winning team, but this can also have an element of fun about it too. Some great rewards are some free drinks or chocolate gifts.

Show a televised Soccer game

Showing a televised soccer game and having your guests pick teams to support is a fantastic idea, and even better if you’re watching one of the Euro 2021 teams play this summer, as it is unlikely that your guests will support any of these teams in their normal life unless they happen to be from these nations. Watching international soccer where there are no previous allegiances can ensure there’s no sports-related conflict.

Guess the cocktail ingredients

This requires a little bit of research. You do not have to actually make the cocktails – unless, of course, you want to, and this would be great for an adults-only party.

Having pictures of these cocktails as well as the name would be very beneficial too for your guests, and it does not necessarily mean that they will be able to guess the ingredients from the photo. Get your guests into teams with a nominated speaker to record the answers and ask them what ingredients are in certain cocktails. There is a lot of fun to be had in this game as cocktails have some really good names, and some can have interesting ingredients.  These are just three options that can be great at starting a fun night with friends and are also good at breaking the ice with strangers. Use these games to ensure you start the night right.
