3 Advantages Of Rechargeable Batteries

All opinions are mine and mine alone.

Every household uses batteries. It is safe to say that batteries are a necessity as they are used to power the television remote, some light switches, flashlights, video doorbells, clocks, portable lanterns, indoor fans, portable radios, some Bluetooth speakers, and most children’s toys.

Once the batteries are used and are not working anymore, households tend to toss them in the trash and drive to the shop to buy new batteries. Most people throw them in the garbage like it is second nature. “It’s not working anymore, so throw it away” Unfortunately, the decision of chucking it in the trash can has a significant impact on the environment.

To give you an idea, research has shown that about 3 billion single-use batteries are thrown away annually by Americans alone. So in a worldwide population of about 328 million people and taking the 3 million new battery American users into account, if you do the math, that is about 15 billion primary batteries get thrown away each year!

Have the thought crossed your mind about what happens to those batteries that end up in your trash can? Have you wondered where they go or how they are disposed of? The answers to those questions would most likely be “no,” and afterward, you start to think about it.

Well, to save you the trouble of over-thinking it and running through countless websites, almost all non-disposable household batteries that were thrown in the trash end up in landfill sites. To be exact, 96% of batteries end up on landfill sites.

But it does not stop there. What happens to the batteries littered on the landfill sites? Those batteries contribute to air and water pollution as they decay and start to leak. The casing of each battery corrodes. The chemicals released from the batteries soak into the soil, which contaminates not only groundwater but also contaminates the water on the surface.

However, while making an effort to dispose of batteries by recycling them can help to decrease the impact it has on our environment, recycling facilities are not always available for everyone to use.

Therefore, it is ultimately best to purchase a 18650 button top battery that is rechargeable and will last much longer than single-use batteries and save you money in the long run as well.

Here are three of the advantages for investing in rechargeable batteries:

Helping Mother Earth

As the 18650 button top battery can be well recharged and used numerous times, it will not end up in the trash like other primary single-use batteries. Thus, fewer batteries will end up on landfill sites which will help combat air and water pollution. You might think that it is a small contribution, but every little bit helps.

Rechargeable batteries have an impressive 28 times less negative impact on the environment than their opponent, the single use of disposable batteries. Furthermore, the 18650 button top battery is eco-friendly as they use very little energy to charge.

You can use your new batteries over and over again, and there will be no need to manufacture and transport more and more disposable batteries, which will be a significant win for mother nature, our planet, and our well being.

Saving You Money In The Long Run

Did you know that customers spend about $10.7 billion on batteries alone every year in the US? Yes, you read correctly, $10.7 billion annually! That is a lot of money to spend only on batteries.Rechargeable batteries will not cost you nearly as much as single-use batteries annually. Rechargeable batteries are considered to be more of an investment than an average purchase. Sure, the first swipe of your credit card will be a bit more than primary batteries. However, you will not need to purchase new batteries every time the ones you used are depleted. If you have rechargeable batteries, there is no need to waste gas by driving to the nearest shop for batteries.

You can recharge the batteries that you purchased and use them again.

With that said, please take note, do not try to charge your primary single-use battery in the charger! The single-use battery does not have the capacity to handle the amount of energy in the reusable battery charger. The primary single-use battery will heat up and ultimately explode once the seal has broken. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHARGE THEM!

More Power For Longer

So, it has been established that rechargeable batteries are friendly to our environment, and they can potentially save you plenty of time and money in the long run. But what about its power?First of all, as these batteries work with a charger, it all depends on how many times you charge them. Usually, rechargeable batteries can be charged for up to 500 charging cycles. Most rechargeable batteries generally can last between 2-7 years if your battery and its charger have been maintained and taken care of correctly. Therefore, it is essential to read the packet of the newly purchased rechargeable batteries carefully and pay close attention to the maintenance and care of the batteries.

The Do Not List:

  • Do not decide to ‘wing it; try to figure it out and see what happens. Remember, you are working with objects that contain toxic gasses and acid, which has the potential to cause a fire. Batteries can be hazardous if not handled correctly. So, please handle it with care and diligence!
  • Do not attempt to use any rechargeable or primary batteries for vaping purposes. The batteries are not made for any vaping devices. Would you please make sure that you use only the batteries provided when you purchased your device to prevent any unnecessary accidents, harm, and explosions?
  • Do not throw away any primary or rechargeable batteries in your household trash. Please recycle as much as possible. Your care and effort for recycling paper, plastic, glass, and batteries will make a massive positive impact to help and save our environment so that we, our children, and their children can have a healthy planet and healthy lifestyle!
