This is something great that you can do at home, have a lot of fun, and realistically, you wouldn’t even have to go out of your house to sell them. Thanks to the internet and eCommerce platforms, there are plenty of websites online where craft projects can be sold. This is a fantastic way to save on time and hassle, plus there’s no need for having to go to trade shows or even flea markets for selling your items.  Here are some fabulous tips for selling your crafts and DIY projects online!

Start by making a blog

Getting into selling your products through blogging is one of the best ways to jump-start your journey. This is also one of the most profitable ways as well. Having your own website will show your credibility, plus it lets potential customers really get to know who you are. There are plenty of websites where you can get this started such as WordPress, as they have the WooCommerce plugin for selling goods. Another benefit to having your own website is the fact that you don’t need to deal with any monthly fees or transaction fees either.

This is going to be your platform and you set the rules.  Alternatively, there are websites such as Shopify where you can sell your items, and there is even a blog section for Shopify stores so potential customers can learn more about the seller. In general, just do your research on what feels best and hassle-free for you.

Look into Etsy

For some people, starting a website is too time-consuming, too expensive, or maybe even just too confusing. That’s completely okay! There are plenty of other platforms online for selling goods, one very popular website would be Etsy. This is an eCommerce platform specifically made for handmade goods and crafts. This route is very budget-friendly, plus, setting up an Etsy shop can be very easy and quick compared to setting up a website.

You may be surprised at what can be sold on Etsy. A lot of people will sell handmade and homemade goods such as food, clothing, decorations and so much more. Yes! You can even sell classic red velvet cake on Etsy if you like!

Sell on social media

Selling on social media is now easier than ever before. There are plenty of options such as selling on Facebook Marketplace, Selling in Facebook groups specifically meant for buying and selling, or you can even just post it as a status on your wall with a payment link. These options have been so helpful for homemade craft and DIY sellers. Instagram even has an option for selling too with their eCommerce shop section. This way you can post your belongings, and it helps make your business look professional. This can also be a great way to create a sustainable lifestyle too.  When it comes to these sorts of things, you’ll want to have a home checklist to make sure that everything is nicely in order.

Sell on eBay and Amazon

Both Amazon and eBay are other great options for selling online. Amazon has its special Handmade section that’s dedicated to small business owners selling their handmade and homemade goods. While eBay is honestly for selling anything. You’ll find plenty of shops on eBay selling handmade crafts and goods. For eBay, there is even the option for in-person pick up so you can even sell locally.
