6 Tips for Super-Shiny, Healthy Hair

When you look at the cover of a magazine and see a beautiful woman with luxurious, voluminous, shining hair, don’t you just wonder: How does anyone’s hair actually look like that?  Naturally, models, actresses, and other celebs on the covers of magazines have a whole team of hair experts ready to make their models look glorious. Some added help from photo editing gurus in “post” doesn’t hurt either! Still, that doesn’t mean that you, at home, can’t achieve a similar beautiful look for your hair. You just need a few useful tricks up your sleeve!

Below, we offer 6 special tips for ramping up the glam factor with your own mane. Using these tips, you should quickly notice a change for the better, both in how your hair looks and how it feels.

Wash your hair less often.

Many women make the mistake of washing their hair every single day with shampoo and conditioner. Shampoo isn’t necessarily bad for your hair, but it does strip your locks of their natural oils, and this can cause dryness and brittleness. Even when you use a conditioner right after you shampoo, the ultimate result can be drier hair.

For this reason, we recommend washing your hair every other day at the most. If you can make it two to three days between washings, that’s even better. In addition, make sure you’re changing your shampoo during the winter months. Because it’s drier in the winter, you’ll want to choose a shampoo with more humectants and moisturizers in it.

Turn down the water temperature when you take a bath or shower.

Especially when it’s cold outside, we all love a steamy hot shower. Unfortunately, such showers aren’t good for retaining moisture in your hair. In fact, hot water can actually strip your hair of its natural oils just as shampooing too often can.

Therefore, if you can stand it, try to turn down the temperature for your showers and baths by a few degrees. You should really notice a difference in your hair’s softness and suppleness if you can manage this.

Keep your ends tidy with regular hair trims.

Split ends can cause the very bottoms of your hairs to look frayed and unsightly, but that’s not all. Split ends can also slowly rise up the shaft of each hair and actually cause delayed growth and poor growth. In other words, if you let your split ends go on for too long, this can cause all of your hair shafts to look dull and brittle — quite an unattractive result. Getting regular trims to get rid of split ends can help tremendously.

Are you trying to grow your hair long? Contrary to what you might think, this means you should actually get your hair trimmed more often as well. That’s because healthy ends help your hair grow faster.

Avoid using hot tools on your hair as much as possible.

You probably already know that the more you blow dry, straighten, and curl your hair with hot tools, the drier and more brittle it becomes. Of course, we all love hot tools for styling our locks, so this doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to throw out these appliances.

Instead, try to limit your use of them in general. Next, when you do use them, pre-spray your hair with a heat protectant. As a final tip, you might consider using a heat styling tool that involves steam. Steam curlers and steam-based hair straighteners are available, and they are often far more effective at styling your hair without damage than regular heat styling tools.

Use a CBD-based product for styling.

Did you know that CBD oil can actually make your hair look fuller and thicker? Rest assured that using this type of product on your scalp and hair won’t “get you high.” CBD oil (also known as cannabidiol) is simply derived from cannabis, and it’s actually useful for a number of health and aesthetic issues.

For your hair, CBD oil should help your scalp build up elastin and collagen, both of which are critical for a beautiful mane. It can also increase the protein in your hair, which helps make each strand stronger and healthier. Speak to a sales representative at a Nevada dispensary in your area to find the best CBD oil product for your hair.

Use a deep conditioning mask at least once a week.

Finally, consider investing in a conditioning mask that you can use on your hair at least once or twice every week. Conditioning masks for hair come in all types, but it’s best to choose one that boosts natural oil production and improves the health of your scalp at the same time.

If your hair has unique qualities (extra thick, extra fine, color-treated, grey, etc.), look for masks designed especially for these qualities as well. Ultimately, using a hair mask on a regular basis should make your hair healthier, stronger, softer, and less frizzy and damaged.

Have you been pining after soft, glorious locks? Then these tips are sure to take your mane to the next level. Try them all, and see what works best for you!
