In addition to the usual bathroom remodel of changing your toilet, updating your bath or shower and installing a new sink, there are several other things that you can do to spruce up your bathroom. Follow these tips to make your bathroom remodel easier, more attractive, and more cost-effective.   

Make the Most of the Space  

Bathrooms are often quite small rooms, so it’s important to make use of all of the space that you have. Rather than building out, build in. Incorporate some build-ins into the room, such as medicine cabinets, soap dishes, and toilet roll holders. Try to keep as much available space as possible to make the room look bigger. You can easily fit a single-width sheet of vinyl flooring to a small bathroom, eliminating all seals.  

 Think About Colors  

Colors can make a huge difference to how small or large your bathroom looks. If you want to make a smaller bathroom look bigger, you need to choose a color palette that is light or white in color. Dark colours tend to make a room appear much smaller and claustrophobic. When choosing the colors of your fixtures and fittings, go for white or light-colored ones. Always paint your bathroom ceiling white or off-white, as this helps to ensure the room appears as large as possible. The lighter you can make your bathroom, the better.   

Choose The Right Lighting  

You can use bathrooms for a wide range of things, and this includes inspecting your hair and face. Lighting is usually very dim and concentrated in just one spot – usually from a ceiling fixture. However, you should consider adding extra lighting to your bathroom -especially around the mirror. Just make sure you don’t install blinding lights. A simple way that you can add mood to your bathroom is with a dimmer switch. Dimmer switches are perfect for late-night relaxing baths.   

Add Some Freestanding Pieces  

If you have enough space in your home, many professional decorators will recommend having at least one freestanding element in the room, such as a decorative chair or a cupboard, for the improved design element. To compensate for the space used by a freestanding element, you can recess some other practical elements such as clothes hampers or simply move the clothes hamper to another room. The decorative piece may also serve a practical use, such as a place to store things like towels, soaps, or some other small items.  

 Incorporate Hooks for Hanging  

Hooks are the easiest way to add some surface area to your bathroom without adding any countertop surface area. You can use Hooks for a huge variety of things such as bathrobes, clothes, and towels. Try placing hooks on the back of the bathroom door, on the inside of some cabinets, or on any unused wall sections if possible.   

Include More Mirrors  

Most people will think of a bathroom mirror in just one way, as a way of checking on hair and makeup. However, it’s important to think of your bathroom mirrors as design elements that expand the room’s visual appeal and add light to your bathroom space. Many homeowners like to add a second mirror into their bathrooms in addition to the primary mirror that is located above the bathroom sink. In smaller bathrooms, try using a large mirror that spans the entire length of the wall. Leave some small space behind the mirrors to allow for good airflow and to prevent any build-up of mold.
