3 Things to Do in Kentucky  

Whether you’re looking at Homes For Sale In Campbellsville, KY or you’re planning a short weekend away in Louisville, you won’t be struggling to keep yourself occupied. Kentucky is packed full of amazing entertainment facilities that are perfect for the whole family. 

With many different state parks, Kentucky is a popular destination for geology lovers and it attracts thousands of horse riders every year because it is home to Horse Park. But it’s not just equine enthusiasts that can enjoy everything that Kentucky has to offer. Known as the Bluegrass state, it has a diverse culture and a large array of attractions for locals and tourists to enjoy. If you’ve got young children, there are plenty of kid-friendly things to do and you will easily be able to find a great café or restaurant to eat in during your days out in the state.  

Here are three amazing things to do in Kentucky, whether you’re a local looking for some weekend entertainment or you’re planning a summer vacation to the state. 

 Kentucky Derby  

The Kentucky Derby is one of the most well-known horse racing events in the States. It is held on the first Sunday of every May and it attracts people from all over the globe. Watch in awe as a range of horse races take place and place bets on which horse you think is going to win. You can turn it into a full day’s event and spend it with your family and friends. 

 Cumberland Gap National Historical Park  

In the Southeast of the state lies the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park. This huge area of greenery has stunning views and is buzzing with life.  

There are regular tours that take you up to the Hensley Settlement, which is an old township that will transport you into a whole other world. Alternatively, you can take your own route through the trees and hike to Pinnacle Overview where you can take in the breathtaking views. 

 Mammoth Cave National Park  

The Mammoth Cave can be found in the Southwest of the state and it consists of over 400 miles of passage. It’s a huge network of caves that are thought to date back thousands of years.  

The Mammoth Cave National Park is hugely popular amongst tourists and it’s perfect for a family day out. There are ongoing tours available where you can see the caves in all of their glory and learn more about their origins. You can view the Ruins of Karnak or take a look at the Mammoth Dome.  

You can also take part in a range of different activities in the park, such as swimming, kayaking, cycling, and even camping. Different sporting events and activities are available all year round and you don’t usually need to pre-book these in advance.  

After taking part in your activity of choice, you can enjoy lunch in the Snowball Dining Room which has themed décor and delicious dishes.
