My son has always been a fan of stem toys. He loves to think, build, and see how things work. That’s his fun! He is also the type of kid to watch youtube videos to figure things out himself or just hear what people have to say about black holes. His brain is always going and I love to encourage his creative thought process.
Regular toys don’t always turn out in my favor. They usually sit aside and are not played with. So we gave brown toy box a try! If I get my son a stem kit or anything he can be hands-on with. He loves! We got a brown toy box to try out. They are available at Target and I suggest grabbing one before they are gone. They have so many different kinds for all of their interest.

Specifically designed to empower young Black and Brown kids in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM), Brown Toy Box STEAM Kits will be available at specialty and mass retailers nationwide in 2022. Featuring engaging characters and fun activities, six themed STEAM kits are available, from the logic of coding, exploring the periodic table, curating a museum exhibit, building a wooden robot recreation, to constructing a telescope to explore constellations.
Created by Equity in Play advocate Terri-Nichelle Bradley to disrupt generational poverty in underserved communities, Brown Toy Box STEAM Kits debuted at Target in 2021. Ages 5+, SRP $29.99.

Brown Toy Box Steam Kits, a Google for Start-ups Black Founder Fund recipient, empowers Black and Brown kids in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) by inspiring equity in play. Mom of four and founder Terri-Nichelle Bradley pivoted her career to create engaging educational products for underserved communities. In 2017, she began curating fun and engaging, educationally focused STEAM boxes for kids in inner-city Title 1 school. Featuring black characters and inspiring careers in science, technology, engineering art, and math, she received funding from corporate partners like Cox Media.
In 2021, Brown Toy Box evolved into a full-scale educational toy company dedicated to disrupting generational poverty. The engaging Brown Toy Box characters, the “Dadisi Academy Crew” – from the Swahili word meaning ‘inquisitive’ or ‘curious’ – and activities, seek to normalize Black excellence and cultivate curiosity in culturally stimulating ways. In 2021 six different Brown Toy Box kids science kits were launched at Target stores nationwide.
