If you have never been to Greece, then you really need to put it on your bucket list. Those who have been to Greece before and have spotted the white buildings among the cerulean blue oceans behind them will know that Greece has a flavor to it from the moment that you land. It’s not just the food and it’s not just the drinks, but it’s in the way the locals will speak to you and the way you meander the markets and see the way that people interact with one another.
Greece should be your bucket list destination, and whether or not you book a vacation rental in Greece, or you head to one of the luxurious hotel resorts, there is always somewhere to stay and there is always something to see. You will fall in love with the sunrises and sunsets and you will fall in love with the way that people band together as a community no matter what even when you’re a tourist. Here are some of the reasons you should visit Greece:
- The beaches. You could go all over the world and never find a beach as pristine as those you find in Greece. The sun is clean and clear and the water is so blue you feel like you’re in a swimming pool. There are miles and miles of beautiful beach here, so it should be on your bucket list to visit as many Greek beaches as you can.
- The food. Greeks love fresh food, and you won’t be able to move for the stuffed tomatoes or the amazing calamari you can fill up on. The beautiful meats, you cannot leave here without trying the lamb, are available no matter where you go and you can sink your teeth into fresh vegetables and fresh fruits every day. The food is incredible because people really know how to cook here.
- The people. We talked about the sense of community but Greek people are very welcoming and warmhearted. Even in this hot city of Athens, people are always so good to you. If you stay in a vacation rental you can pretty much guarantee that you’ll meet the owner at least once and they will welcome you with food and a lot of love and appreciation that you are taking to their home. They welcome you in, so you can sit with the locals and have a sip of a bear over the sunset. You’ll just feel right at home.
- The music. You haven’t lived until you’ve attended a traditional Greek dance. If you do it well, they give you a free sfinaki (or a free shot) and they’ll help you to smash some plates! Not everybody’s a fan of Greek music, but it’s where you’ll see everybody really come to life.
- The weather. During the high season you get long, hot summer days and you’re in the low season you’ll still just have beautiful warm days. Grace really gets particularly cold, and you can really enjoy the beach and the beautiful attractions in the warm weather.
