Stay healthy while traveling 

Injuries and illnesses can put a damper on any trip, but they can be especially problematic when visiting a foreign country for business or pleasure. While it is impossible to guarantee your safety while traveling, there are many things you can do to have a wonderful experience and bring back nothing but good memories. Take care of your water intake 

Your body is roughly 60 percent water, so keeping yourself hydrated is essential. Dehydration is a common problem while traveling. Airplane cabins typically have relative humidity levels that are 50 percent lower than those found at ground level.   

Water in developing nations may contain bacteria to which your immune system isn’t accustomed, making it vital that you avoid drinking it. These bacteria can trigger a range of gastrointestinal symptoms, from mild discomfort to life-threatening conditions requiring intensive care.  

The obvious precaution is to avoid drinking tap water, but you should also be aware that the ice in your drinks and the water used to wash fruits and vegetables may not have been treated. If you’re unsure of the water source, it’s best to use bottled water for washing produce and ice. 

Bring your own prescription drugs 

Make sure you have plenty of your medications on hand if you have a chronic condition that requires them, such as diabetes or asthma. Exercise

Sleep Well 

It’s important to get at least 7 hours of sleep every night, no matter where you are. Recent research has shown a correlation between insufficient sleep and an increased risk of developing diseases like diabetes and heart disease. 

An overnight stay in a city where you will be catching a connecting flight may be necessary if you are taking a long international trip across multiple time zones. This is made convenient by the proximity of many airport hotels, and the cost savings from extending a layover are often negligible. 

Relieve the Tension in Your Legs 

Traveling by car or plane for long distances raises the risk of developing a blood clot in the legs due to the passenger’s inactivity. If you want to avoid blood clots, this video will show you some easy exercises you can do right from your seat.  

It’s a good idea to get out and stretch your legs every hour or so while driving. An aisle seat on planes can help get up and move around when the seatbelt sign is turned off. Compression stockings, which prevent blood from pooling in the legs, are an option to be taken into consideration.
