6 places to visit this summer

All opinions are mine and mine alone.

Are you looking to book a vacation? Once you’ve decided you want to go away, this is when the fun parts kick in. Whether you are traveling alone, with your family members or with a loved one, you can all get together and start doing your research. What type of holiday would you like to go on – a cruise, beach holiday, city break, or a road trip? Where would you like to go – London, the Caribbean, America, Europe? And the type of accommodation?

We recommend using a Google spreadsheet to make a list and share it with you all, that way you can each add suggestions and then narrow it down. When looking, don’t forget to use a site like Skyscanner to find the best-priced flights – remember to adjust your dates as this can heavily affect the flight costs.

So what destinations do you fancy visiting this summer? To help you narrow your search down, we have put 6 locations together below.

Lancaster – America

A short 1-hour 30-minute drive from Philadelphia is Lancaster. Here there are plenty of things to do as well as places to stay, including the travelers rest Lancaster. Hire a bike and explore the area and don’t forget to factor in some shopping on your trip. If you are adventurous, you will love the zip lines and hot air balloon rides. When adding other things to your itinerary, make sure you add in a journey to Philadelphia – it’s a city rich in history.

London – United Kingdom

London is a great city filled with many things to do, ideal for different tastes. If you enjoy history, you can visit the many museums including the Imperial War Museum and Natural History Museum. Foodies will love the different cafes in London Bridge and the surrounding areas. If you enjoy sports you could watch a football match at Stamford Bridge or The Emirates Stadium – the possibilities are endless in London. Accommodation prices vary depending on the area you stay in, with hotels ranging from 3-star up to 5-star. Restaurants fall in the same category, you’ll find plenty of affordable eateries, as well as award-winning Michelin restaurants – Gordon Ramsey’s three-star Michelin is a very popular choice, just make sure you book well in advance to guarantee a table.

Barbados – Caribbean Islands

If you are looking for a beach break, there isn’t much better than Barbados. Barbados is flooded with sand-swept beaches and crystal clear waters. Book in for a kayaking experience, explore the depths of the sea scuba diving or explore the island by boat – we recommend swimming with turtles. If you want to stay on land, enjoy a cocktail (or two) on the beachfront, whilst relaxing and reading a book. Barbados is known for its seafood, so make sure you order some lobster as well as some tuna and salmon. Just like London, accommodation prices vary, so make sure you do your research beforehand to get the best deal, depending on where you are flying from, flights can be pricey.

Majorca – Spain

Majorca is a good mix of a city break and a beach break. For the city, you can stay in Palma, a short journey away and you can stay in Alcudia where sand-swept beaches and crystal clear water reside. Depending on your interests, you can book kayaking or boat trips in Alcudia and enjoy countless seafront walks. In Palma, we recommend you explore Casco Antiguo, take a leisurely walk along the Borne, discover Bellver Castle and book some tickets to see the aquarium. The weather can change depending on the month you visit, however, there is always plenty to do in Majorca.

Amsterdam – Netherlands

Have you been to Amsterdam before? If you haven’t make sure you add it to your bucket list of things to do. If you have, you’ll know it’s a great city and a place to consider visiting again. Amsterdam is a unique city that brings in many tourists year in and year out. There is a great foodie scene as well as activities to do, museums to visit and beautiful hotels to stay in. When visiting Amersterdam the costs within the city are very reasonable when compared to other places that you can visit in the world. We would recommend visiting Anne Frank’s House, the Van Gogh Museum and if you enjoy beer, the Heineken experience.

Toronto – Canada

An exciting city and one you should plan to visit at least once in your life is Toronto. A city bustling with life and so much to see and do. You’ll never run out of activities or things to do in Toronto, it’s easily a place you can spend weeks at. A number of things you should have on your itinerary include visiting the CN Tower, taking a trip to the Hockey Hall of Fame, exploring Trinity Bellwoods Park, booking an excursion to Niagara Falls and going to Kensington Market. Depending on how much you want to spend on dining out, there are a number of award-winning restaurants dotted around the city as well as more affordable ones. A quick browse on TripAdvisor and you’ll find plenty and real-life reviews.

We hope the above six destinations have helped narrow down your search. There are so many different places to visit, that it can be hard to decide, especially when deciding for a group of you. Just remember there is always another holiday you can book, so don’t put too much pressure on one location as you can go the year after. If you want to see multiple destinations that are near each other, a road trip may be worth consideration. This way you get to go to the places you’ll want to visit.
