It could also be worth considering a canopy for your outdoor living area. Such a canopy could provide shelter from the rain and shade from the sun so that you can use your living space in all weathers. While gazebos make a great freestanding option, it may also be possible to attach an awning to your home to hang over your living space. This could be a retractable awning that allows you to choose between sun and shade in the summer. Some retractable awnings have slats for increased light control. For a completely authentic living room experience outdoors, why not also add a TV? This could allow you to watch all your favorite shows, movies and sports from your patio. Of course, you can’t just place any TV outdoors. There are specialist outdoor TVs available in a variety of sizes that are designed to be weatherproof. Such a TV could be mounted on a wall or a fence with your outdoor furniture positioned around it. A freestanding outdoor TV is not recommended as it may easily blow over in strong winds and could be an easy target for burglars. Although designed to be weatherproof, it’s worth looking into added protection for your outdoor TV such as a fabric cover or plastic cabinet. This may also add an extra level of security.
