Rosyth for Families: 5 Great Places to Visit 

Rosyth is a small town in Fife, Scotland with a population of around 13,000. Whether you live there or you are visiting the local area, there are actually some great places to visit in Rosyth and nearby with children and foster children. Here are 5 of the top attractions and activities for families: 

1. HMS Unicorn 

One of Rosyth’s most unique attractions is HMS Unicorn, a Royal Navy frigate that was launched in 1824. HMS Unicorn is the oldest surviving British warship still afloat and visitors can explore the historic decks and get a glimpse into life aboard a 19th century sailing ship. Kids will love imagining what it would have been like to be a sailor in the olden days. The ship has been beautifully restored and also houses fascinating exhibitions on its history. 2. Rosyth Castle and Gardens 

The ruins of 15th century Rosyth Castle sit on a scenic coastal headland overlooking the Firth of Forth. The grassy slopes around the castle are perfect for a picnic or playing outdoor games when the weather is fine. The castle gardens have been restored to their former glory with geometrical flowerbeds and fruit trees. 3. Adventure Golf Island, Dunfermline

4. Deep Sea World, North Queensferry 

Deep Sea World in North Queensferry, which is a short drive from Rosyth, is a fantastic aquarium for families. Located beneath the Forth Rail Bridge, this attraction allows visitors to discover the mysteries of the deep through interactive displays and Europe’s longest underwater viewing tunnel. See sharks, rays, colourful fish and playful seals up close in the flooded observatory. The touch pool is great fun for kids to get hands-on with starfish and crabs. With daily feeding shows and talks, Deep Sea World entertains and educates about marine life.  

If none of these things appeal, there is also an Odean Cinema in nearby Dunfermline, which shows the latest blockbusters, as well as an Escape Room.
