Questions to Ask Your Family While Planning a Road Trip
Are you gearing up for a family vacation? Prepare yourselves for a fun adventure and memories that you will all think back to. But, before you pack your favorite road trip snacks, toys, and luggage, are you sure that everyone is happy with the destination?
Nothing ruins a family trip faster than finding out that someone in the group is not enjoying themselves. That is why, during the planning stages, everyone’s comments and feelings are put into consideration. That way, everyone can be happy with the final choice and you can all maximize the fun.
To help you and your family, Alpha Car Hire has come up with a few questions to ask your family during the planning process:
Where do we want to go?
When discussing where you want to take your road trip, it is essential to get everyone’s input on the matter. Your younger kids might want to go to an amusement park, while your older kids will want to sit by the pool at a resort, and your SO would want to go on a cruise.
What you can do is list down everyone’s dream destination and make it a point to visit each one of those at a different time.
For instance, this year, you can go on a cruise and, the following year, you can go on to an amusement park. If your schedule allows it, make it a long road trip. First stop, an amusement park and a hotel stay.
When is the best time to take the trip?
Once you’ve established a destination, the next thing to ask everyone is when to take this road trip. A lot of families typically plan their family vacation when school is out.
However, you still have to work around your work schedules. You need to pinpoint a day so you can plot your day off accordingly. Other than that, you also have to consider your children’s sports schedule. Make sure to choose a month and a set of days where everyone is free, so everyone can focus on the trip and enjoy themselves.
Do we have enough funds?
Once you’ve established a destination, ask yourselves if you have the funds to make that trip a reality. A lot of times people make plans without checking to see if they can afford it.
What you can do is plan the trip a year in advance and start a savings fund for it. That way, you will have funds to enjoy the journey as much as you can.
Is everyone happy with these choices?
Once you’ve fielded the suggestions and came up with a compromise, ask everyone if they are okay with the arrangements. This is also an excellent time to clear the air between family members, especially if your kids have been bickering and are currently not on good terms. Try and help them patch things up to avoid an awkward car ride to your destination. This can also allow them to enjoy the trip with their siblings without any issues.
Communication is crucial. Make it a point to get everyone involved in the planning so that they feel included. It also encourages every member to give their opinions on the matter, so they don’t have to stay silent.
When you take the time to consider how everyone feels about the plans and make arrangements accordingly, everyone can have more fun on the trip. Ask these questions to make the most out of your family trip.
