Save Money when Travelling to NYC with these Travel Tips

All opinions are mine and mine alone.

New York City is bustling with things to do. At times, you may wonder how you’re going to afford it all, but if you follow these tips then you shouldn’t have a problem.

Eat at Street Carts

If you see a long line behind a street cart, then don’t feel deterred. Street carts are super-fast at serving so you won’t be waiting long at all. Street carts tend to be very affordable and they are great if you have a ton of things to do in a very short space of time. They’re everywhere too, so you won’t have to search very far.

Walk Everywhere you Can

New York City is one of the greatest cities in the world, so why not see it up close and personal? Put on some comfortable shoes and take it all in. Sure, the subway is the fastest way for you to get around, but the cost can add up. If you choose to walk, then you may end up doing things you never thought you would, which is a great way for you to enhance your experience overall.

Avoid Times Square when Dining

If you want to save money then make sure that you avoid eating in Times Square or even in Midtown. They’re tourist traps and the restaurants can be expensive. New York is beaming with different places to eat, but if you want some ideas then check out Chelsea, West Village or East Village. They’re brimming with restaurants so you can still have a great dining experience without paying the high price tag.

Go to a Show

Shows can be expensive but if you book in advance then you’ll usually find that there are tons of discounts and deals available. Consider booking some Dear Evan Hansen tickets, or even look to see if there’s anything on at the local theatre. Sometimes you may be able to take advantage of a two for one deal, which will cut down on cost significantly.

Be Careful when Booking Accommodation

You need to be careful when you book your accommodation. The main reason for this is because you may end up paying way more than you need. For example, if you book a hotel which is right next to a main attraction, this will cost you way more. If you book a few streets over then you’re still in walking distance, but the price can sometimes be half. You also need to book in advance too, as this will save you even more money. If you’re having a hard time knowing where the best hotels are, then consider using a forum or look up reviews online. You do need to be careful here though because if you book a hotel that is too far away from the centre then you may find yourself having to excessively travel. If you’re not experienced when it comes to the subway, then this can get very confusing and you may even find that your vacation is compromised as a result.
