All opinions are mine and mine alone.
If you have never been on a road trip before then you’re certainly missing out. There is so much to see and even more to do, not to mention that you can easily have fun without breaking the bank.
Clean your Car
Before you go on your road trip, you need to clear out any gum wrappers, receipts, dog hair and anything else that might be in your car. You have to remember that when you are going on a road trip, you will be spending the majority of your time in the car and if you are not careful then you may find that you end up feeling claustrophobic. When you embark on your trip, it helps to pull over every few days so that you can clear out any rubbish that you might have accumulated. This will help you to feel way more at ease and it will also help you to stay on top of everything.
Check your Car
Before you are due to embark on your road trip, you have to get your car checked over. Your local mechanic should be able to check your car fluid levels, tyres, brakes and anything else of the sort. Having a spare tyre is also super important because you never know when you are going to pop one on the road. Jumper cables and wiper fluid will also come in far handier than you realise.
Have a Loose Plan
When you are travelling a significant distance, you will probably run into a few problems. There isn’t much that you can do about this, but it does help to have a loose plan. If you overschedule you may find yourself cancelling hotels and letting people down. If you under schedule on the other hand then you may find that you struggle to know where to go or what to do, and this is the last thing that you need.
Insurance
You have to make sure that you have a quality insurance policy. If you don’t then you may find yourself in trouble. Getting an insurance quote is now easier than ever to do and you would be surprised at how much money you could save by switching right before you are due to make your trip. If you are not quite sure if your cover protects you when driving in other states then chat with your provider.
Get off the Highways
Unless you have a strict schedule or a specific destination, there is no point in you hitting the highways. If you do, then you may find that you end up missing out on some fantastic scenic opportunities and that you also end up compromising your trip too. If you want to make the most out of your trip, then it helps to buy a map that shows you scenic routes. When you do, the best routes will be shown via red dots, so you won’t waste your time going the long way round with nothing to show for it.
