How To Think Differently About Your Outfits

All opinions are mine and mine alone.

Wearing clothes can sometimes feel like a chore. Not that we’d like to go in the nude, of course, especially not in winter. However, when trying to put an outfit together, it’s sometimes a little bit cumbersome. Is this right for the occasion, you ask? What if I have nothing right to wear on the day? Does this colour go with that one, and in the end, does this really suit me?

This can be a classic case of overthinking things. After all, if you’re happy in what you’re wearing, and you find it comfortable, then why does someone elses’ opinion matter? Of course, it can be hard to get in that mode of thinking without much care. We do generally care about what people think about us. But do we need to when it comes to outfits?

Let’s consider what it might be like to think of putting outfits together differently. Perhaps we can feel more motivated and appreciative of our fashion efforts if we do this. Who knows? It can’t hurt to try. Let’s see what that might mean in practice:

Accessories That Prioritize YOU

Why not wear accessories that not only work for you, but help you better express yourself? We often think that accessorizing means wearing the latest and greatest adornments, but why not go for something fun, unique, something that truly does express your personality? For instance, many people prefer lab created diamonds thanks to how identical and also how much more affordable they are, allowing you to express your personality with the added ethical consideration that the Earth hasn’t been mined for this precious rock.

Seasonal Dressing

Seasonal dressing is also a great way to feel unchained to certain fashion norms. Right now, we’re in the midst of winter. Soon, spring will be here. This can provide you with a worthwhile and new means of feeling comfortable, renewed, confident, interested, and appreciative of the changing seasons. You might decide to wear clothing that you rarely do, such as trying to make hats a thing.  You might decide to layer more efficiently this year, or opt for wearing more vintage or ethical clothing, supporting small businesses in the midst of this pandemic. That can be a vital and worthwhile effort, through and through.

Changing Your Tonal Profiles

Of course, fashion is not just about texture, but colour and tone. You can change your tonal ‘profiles’ at any time. This might involve changing your hair color, and as a result enjoying an unlocked sense of what you can wear and what might be the most conducive to feeling comfortable. This might involve wearing silver jewlery after you die your hair a browner color, or it might mean dressing in all of the radiant colors of Spring to match the season, or it might simply be finally realising what suits your eye colour. Taking the time to consider your tonal profile is not only worthwhile – it’s plenty of fun.

With this advice, we hope you can think more differently about your outfits.
