How To Impress At Your Next Pot Luck!

All opinions are mine and mine alone.

One of the most fun things that you can do with your friends is get together for a potluck dinner. You all bring a dish, and no one tells you what to bring – all you need is a theme! When you go to one of these dinners, you want to make sure that you have a special night and sometimes, that means ensuring that you impress on the day.

Your friends will be impressed when you bring your favorite easy Dorito casserole, but what else could you do when you are hosting the next dinner? It’s all about making sure that everyone has a good time. Let’s take a look:

Make sure that you have the right ambience. You want people coming into your house feeling warm and welcomed from the moment that they walk in. This means that you need to think about all of the smaller touches. It’s the throw cushions and the fluffy throw on the couch, the chair covers and the scented candles in the bathroom. The right ambience makes for a relaxing meal.

Choose the right music. You want background music, but nothing too loud that you can’t talk over it. Music matters and you can even  match it to the type of cuisine that you’re going to serve up. You could even put together a playlist.

Never miss the cheese board. A cheese and meat board is something you can finish the pot luck with and it can be the star of the show! You can choose a few cheeses of various strengths and textures, and then add crackers, Italian meats, sun dried tomatoes, grapes – it’ll all come together as a delicious treat for everyone. You can lay it all out beautifully on a wooden slab and everyone is going to appreciate it.

Choose drinks wisely. You might think about the wine that you love, but think about soft drinks, chilled still water and chilled sparkling water, too. Have it all set up in the refrigerator or breathing on the sideboard nice and early, and you’ll have something that suits everyone. Make sure that you choose wine and drinks that complement the meat!

Add something new. The foods that you eat are going to be gorgeous but trying something new when you bring food to a potluck is so important. Tickling taste buds with the first try of caviar is one of the most exciting things that you can do during a potluck!

Always serve a dessert. Potluck dinner? Don’t forget dessert. A potluck dessert table can appeal to all tastes and it can be the sweet addition after a night of grazing on savory foods. Mini desserts are perfect here because then people can put together a plate of favorites. Add fresh coffee, and you’ll have guests feeling excited about what you have to offer, too. Always make sure that you serve up a storm here and you’ll ensure that your friends are more than impressed with the effort that you put into the meal together.
